Position: Kitchen Attendant (Part-Time)
Hours of Work: 21 hours per week
Reports to: Food, Beverage and Hospitality Team Leader

Position Summary
Responsible for ensuring a safe, hygienic, and efficient kitchen environment by maintaining the cleanliness and organization of all food service, storage, and dining areas

Responsibilities:

1. Maintains cleanliness and tidiness in the Food Services department

  • Ensures all items washed in the dishwasher are spotless, free of stains, food residue or chemical streaks before storing.
  • Maintains the dishwashing area clean, always organized and hazard-free.
  • Supports food deliveries by assisting with receiving, organizing, and storing items safely.
  • Checks garbage containers for mistakenly discarded reusable items (cutlery, glassware, smallwares) before disposal

2. Operates and maintains equipment in a safe manner

  • Clean the dishwashing machine after each meal period, ensuring no foreign particles are stuck or left in the drains.
  • Uses equipment, materials, cleaners and protective devices according to safe

3. Supports Cook and Food Preparation Activities

  • Prepares basic mise in place items to support menu production, catering, and à-la-carte service.
  • Provides support during service periods by restocking ingredients, passing items to the Cook, organizing tools/equipment, and ensuring all stations are clean and replenished.
  • Helps ensure smooth kitchen workflow during busy periods by maintaining readiness of prep tables, cutting boards, utensils, and smallware.
  • Supports the Cook in special events, seasonal menus, and daily operations by completing prep duties assigned at the beginning of each shift.

Education:

  • High School graduate with OSSD or equivalent, an asset

Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum one (1) year experience in restaurant, cafeteria, or food services environment.

  • Strong knowledge of cleaning and sanitation procedures, including dishwashing operations and food safety standards.

  • Ability to follow instructions, work in fast-paced environments, and maintain high standards of cleanliness.

  • Good communication skills in English; ability to work collaboratively with multicultural teams.

  • Commitment to safe and sustainable work practices.

  • Knowledge of Public Health standards, WHMIS, and workplace safety protocols is an asset.

  • Proof of full vaccination or Medical Exemption Certificate

  • Required to work evening or weekend hours

  • Exposure to high temperatures, steam, and kitchen equipment.

  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 40 lbs
