SUMMARY: Induction Team Lead is responsible for overseeing inbound trailer unloading, outbound trailer loading and induction activities within the warehouse. This role ensures efficient dock flow, accurate processing of inbound freight, and safe execution of daily operations while leading and supporting a team of warehouse associates. The Team Lead works closely with Supervisors and Logistics Coordinators to maintain operational efficiency and meet daily volume targets.

SHIFTS AVAILABLE:

  • Morning: 7:00 AM – 2:30 PM
  • Afternoon: 2:00 PM – 10:30 PM

RESPONSIBILITIES

Operational Leadership

  • Lead daily induction floor operations, ensuring inbound and outbound trailers are unloaded and loaded efficiently and according to operational priorities.
  • Assign tasks and coordinate workflow for induction associates to meet productivity and accuracy targets.
  • Monitor dock door activity and ensure timely trailer turnaround.
  • Ensure all inbound products are scanned, sorted, and staged accurately according to system and operational requirements.

Team Supervision

  • Provide day-to-day leadership and guidance to warehouse associates on the floor.
  • Train and coach team members on induction processes, safety procedures, and operational standards.
  • Monitor employee performance and productivity throughout the shift.
  • Promote teamwork, communication, and adherence to company policies and procedures.

Operational Coordination

  • Coordinate with Logistics Coordinators and Supervisors to prioritize inbound and outbound trailer unloading and loading.
  • Communicate real-time updates regarding dock status, labour allocation, inbound and outbound volume.
  • Identify operational issues affecting productivity or workflow and escalate to management when required.

Quality & Accuracy Control

  • Ensure proper scanning, sorting, and handling of inbound and outbound freight during the induction process.
  • Identify and report damages, shortages, or discrepancies in inbound shipments.
  • Maintain accurate tracking and documentation of inbound product movement. Position Summary

Safety & Workplace Standards

  • Ensure all team members follow Occupational Health and Safety standards and company safety procedures.
  • Enforce proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment in the induction area.

HEALTH & SAFETY

  • Follow the Occupational Health and Safety Act including Safety, Violence and Harassment laws
  • Work in a healthy and safe manner following Metro’s policies, procedures
  • Always wear or use protective equipment
  • Report any hazards you find in the workplace to your supervisor
  • Must not use or operate equipment in a manner that would endanger yourself or others
  • Must not put other workers at risk by your actions

EXPERIENCE

  • Related warehouse experience is considered an asset
  • Efficient skills in Microsoft programs
  • Proficient with computer skills.

EDUCATION

  • Completion of secondary school or college or equivalent.

  • Warehouse team lead experience is preferred.
