About the role

Reporting to the Asset Manager, the Regional Retirement Home Lead will spearhead the growth and operational excellence of Prokey Living’s retirement portfolio.

This is a senior leadership role responsible for:

  • Overseeing an existing Ontario retirement residence
  • Supporting the expansion of Heritage Retirement Home
  • Contributing to a new resort-style retirement concept in Langley
  • Evaluating acquisition opportunities
  • Supporting future developments, including Cedarbrook

This role may be based in BC or Ontario and requires travel between provinces.

As the portfolio grows, this leader will wear multiple hats — operational executive, acquisition evaluator, development advisor, and culture builder — while establishing scalable systems to support long-term growth.

Annual Salary Range- $95,000 – $115,000

What you’re great at

  • Proven operational leadership experience at senior levels in retirement home providers, preferably in multiple levels of care, including life lease, supportive housing, independent living, assisted living, and long-term care.

  • Proven experience with complexities of health authorities, union regulations, tenancy issues, acquisitions evaluation, and development or renovation of properties.

  • Remaining flexible and adapting to changing market conditions and company needs.

  • Leading by example to foster engagement and a positive work environment.

  • Strong business acumen with proficiency in financial performance and strategic decision-making.

  • Seeking out and creating innovative growth opportunities.

  • Skilled at navigating disagreements professionally and fostering productive discussions.

  • Ability to forecast trends, set long-term goals, and align business objectives with market conditions.

  • Developing and implementing business strategies to achieve company goals and objectives.

  • Developing others through guidance, feedback, and support.

What you’ll be doing

Operational Leadership

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of multiple retirement residences including staffing, resident services, maintenance, and compliance.
  • Drive occupancy, service quality, and operational consistency across sites.
  • Design and foster life-giving environments that prioritize dignity, safety, and community for residents.

Portfolio Growth & Development

  • Investigate acquisition opportunities, evaluating proformas, market positioning, and risk.
  • Advise on design and development of new-build retirement homes, bringing operational insight into construction planning.
  • Partner closely with project leaders during expansion builds to ensure operational readiness.

Financial & Business Oversight

  • Lead annual operating and capital budget planning.
  • Monitor financial performance, occupancy trends, and expense management.
  • Analyze KPIs and implement strategic improvements to drive sustainable growth.

Team Management & Culture

  • Lead and mentor General Managers and site leadership teams.
  • Build high-performing, values-aligned teams.
  • Develop succession planning and leadership pipelines within the portfolio.

Regulatory & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with all provincial and federal retirement living regulations (including familiarity with RHRA principles where applicable).

  • Maintain strong relationships with health authorities and external partners.

What we’re looking for

  • 7+ years experience in retirement living, senior care, hospitality, or related senior operational leadership.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multi-site operations or scaling portfolios.
  • Strong budgeting and financial management expertise.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of provincial retirement and senior care regulations (RHRA familiarity is an asset).
  • Willingness to travel between BC and Ontario.
