An experienced AWS Senior Migration Engineer to lead the assessment, planning, migration, modernization, and optimization of enterprise workloads to Amazon Web Services (AWS). The successful candidate will drive cloud adoption initiatives, execute large-scale migration programs, and work closely with architects, developers, infrastructure teams, and business stakeholders to ensure successful cloud transformation.

Key Responsibilities

Cloud Migration & Transformation

• Participate in end-to-end cloud migration projects from on-premises, private cloud, and other cloud platforms to AWS.

• Perform application and infrastructure discovery, dependency mapping, and migration assessments.

• Create migration runbooks, cutover plans, and rollback procedures.

• Execute cloud migration waves while minimizing business disruption.

AWS Infrastructure Design

• Design secure, scalable, and highly available AWS environments.

• Build and support:

o Amazon EC2

o Amazon VPC

o Amazon S3

o Amazon EBS

o Route 53

o Elastic Load Balancer (ELB)

o Auto Scaling

• Implement multi-account AWS environments using AWS Organizations and Control Tower.

Migration Tools & Services

• Utilize AWS migration services including:

o AWS Migration Hub

o AWS Application Migration Service (MGN)

o AWS Database Migration Service (DMS)

o AWS DataSync

o AWS Transfer Family

o AWS Snow Family

• Automate migration processes and reporting.

Infrastructure Automation

• Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using:

o Terraform

o AWS CloudFormation

o CDK (Cloud Development Kit)

• Develop automation scripts using:

o Python

o PowerShell

o Bash

o AWS CLI

• Automate provisioning, configuration, and deployment processes.

Security & Compliance

• Implement AWS security best practices.

• Manage:

o IAM Roles and Policies

o AWS KMS

o Secrets Manager

o Security Hub

o GuardDuty

o AWS Config

• Ensure compliance with organizational, regulatory, and security requirements.

• Conduct security reviews and remediation planning.

Database Migration

• Use AWS DMS and native migration methods.

• Perform migration validation and performance tuning.

Monitoring & Operations

• Configure and manage:

o Amazon CloudWatch

o CloudTrail

o AWS Config

o X-Ray

• Troubleshoot migration-related issues.

• Perform performance tuning and post-migration optimization.

Cost Optimization

• Assess cloud costs and optimize cloud consumption.

• Implement FinOps best practices.

• Utilize:

o AWS Cost Explorer

o Trusted Advisor

o Savings Plans

o Reserved Instances

• Provide recommendations for ongoing cost reduction.

Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement

• Lead migration workshops and technical discussions.

• Mentor junior engineers and migration specialists.

• Partner with application owners, architects, and project managers.

• Create migration reports and dashboards.

• Participate in cloud governance and migration center-of-excellence initiatives.

Required Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.

• Equivalent industry experience may be considered.

Experience

• 8+ years of IT infrastructure and cloud experience.

• 4+ years of AWS hands-on engineering experience.

• 3+ years leading enterprise migration initiatives.

• Experience migrating large-scale production environments.
