About the role:
The Hospital strives to deliver care that is centred on patients and families. Patient and Family Centred Care (PFCC)
is the provision of care that is respectful of, and responsive to individual patient/family preferences, needs, and values
and ensures that those values guide all decisions. Creating a caring environment for patients and families ensures
continuity of care and fosters a learning environment. Applicants are required to have a demonstrated knowledge,
understanding and commitment to this care philosophy.
Reporting to the Manager Base Hospital/Trauma Program Lead, the Clinical Educator will inspire, lead, and mentor
certified land ambulance Advanced Care Paramedics (ACP) and Primary Care Paramedics (PCP) in their practice
through education, research, skills training, and guidance. The Clinical Educator will ensure tracking, development,
delivery, and maintenance of an annual certification, maintenance of certification, education, and continuous quality
improvement process for every certified ACP and PCP working in the NW Region. The Clinical Educator will be
required to track, monitor, and report on individual paramedic practice criteria as well as ensure compliance with
standards, competencies, legislation, and policies, pertaining to certified land ambulance paramedics authorized to
perform Delegated Controlled Medical Acts (DCMA) and perform other Advanced Life Support (ALS) patient care
skills.
The Clinical Educator will work closely with Base Hospital team to ensure optimum program performance and
compliance with the Ministry of Health Performance Agreement and Regional Service Operator Agreements. The
Clinical Educator will lead the Education and Quality Management Programs for PCP and ACP Programs.
Qualifications:
*Critical Care, Advanced Care, or Primary Care Paramedic Certification, or Registered Nurse with ICU or ER
experience; minimum 3 years working experience is required
*Minimum of current BCLS (CPR) and ACLS certification with preference given to those candidates with the
following training or certification: IV Therapy and Maintenance, 12 Lead Acquisition, and ACLS, PALS, NALS, and
ATLS Instructor/ Certification
*Quality Improvement Associate Certification (QIAC) or other education related to quality management/assurance
or experience in quality management/assurance with knowledge of paramedic practice preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
*Experience in clinical teaching with knowledge in the principals of adult learning
*Experience with electronic data management program an asset
*Knowledge of pre hospital care, Base Hospital and EMS systems
*Knowledge in use of distance education methods and learning management systems an asset
*Demonstrative leadership, critical thinking, and mentoring skills
*Demonstrative strong professional practice, skill and judgment
*Excellent communicator, well organized, self motivated, and strong interpersonal skills and team work qualities
required
*Must be computer literate with preference given to candidates with current computer program training in: Excel,
Access, Microsoft Word or Office Professional and PowerPoint
*Must be able to perform physical work duties such as moving/lifting heavy pieces of equipment, classroom
setup/takedown, driving for periods of time, and operating training equipment
*Northwestern Ontario Regional travel will be required throughout the year, access to personal vehicle for travel is
required
Salary Range: $48.410 to 60.510
