JOB SUMMARY
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Sports Betting & Wagering Development, the Manager, Sports Betting & Wagering Development is responsible for supporting, implementing and executing strategic initiatives that support growth in Woodbine’s sports betting and wagering business. This role focuses on delivering results through excellence in delivery, ensuring seamless execution of sports betting integration and growth programs, and supporting the development of innovative wagering products and platforms.
The Manager contributes to the success of new business initiatives by supporting the identification of new opportunities, as well as the development of new partnerships, by supporting new product development and prospecting, and enhancements to the user experience. This role ensures that key projects within the company’s long-term strategic pipeline are progressed effectively, aligned with organizational goals, and meet expectations.
The ideal individual is intellectually curious, thrives diving into and researching new opportunities and has strong analytical and project management skills, particularly in sports betting and wagering. They thrive in a fast-paced environment, are detail-oriented, and have the ability to manage multiple priorities while delivering high-quality results. This position is integral to Woodbine’s growth strategy, translating strategic goals into actionable plans.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support the Senior Manager in implementing annual sports betting strategies and initiatives
- Assist in the delivery of the 5-year Wagering Strategic Plan, ensuring projects align with growth priorities.
- Coordinate the integration of Woodbine’s racing content into Sports Betting Operator (SBO) platforms.
- Manage day-to-day relationships with SBOs to ensure smooth operations and collaboration.
- Execute marketing and promotional activation calendars in partnership with SBOs.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to uncover new accretive wagering opportunities.
- Lead the development of new wagering opportunity financial and operational business cases
- Support efforts to modernize and optimize existing wagering platforms and channels.
- Immerse themselves in global/local market trends to identify opportunities and threats.
- Identify emerging trends and opportunities in sports/wagering to inform future initiatives.
- Provide operational support for business development activities, including evaluating new partnerships.
- Prepare reports on the performance of sports betting and wagering initiatives, ensuring alignment with KPIs.
- Manage project timelines/budgets, efficiently using resources and adhering to deadlines.
- Monitor the progress and delivery of wagering initiatives to ensure consistency with Woodbine’s strategic objectives.
- Participate in external meetings and industry events to support growth initiatives.
KEY SUCCESS FACTORS / Qualifications
- University or college degree/diploma in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 2-4 years of experience in marketing, sports betting, wagering, or related fields, with a focus on project management.
- Familiarity with the wagering industry and understanding of sports betting markets is a plus.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and draw actionable insights.
- Creative thinker with a passion for identifying new growth ideas and opportunities.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external partners.
- Driven and self-motivated, with a focus on delivering high-quality results.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with project management tools.
- Proficiency in marketing analytics tools and platforms
