Position Purpose and Objectives

At Optical Studio, Optical Dispensing Technicians are at the heart of the patient experience, serving as trusted guides in our Eyewear Gallery and essential collaborators on our clinical team. Whether you're just starting your career, have experience in customer-facing roles, or hold a license as an optician, this role offers a meaningful opportunity to grow in a supportive, team-driven environment.

From recommending frames and lenses to finding vision solutions and making frame adjustments, every interaction is a chance to build trust and deliver quality care. On-the-job training will be provided, and your primary responsibilities will encompass, but not be limited to:

  • Welcome and guide patients and visitors through the gallery.

  • Assist patients with selecting frames and lenses, providing recommendations based on prescriptions, patient needs, and budget.

  • Educate patients on optical products, including frames and lenses.

  • Initiate and manage patient frames and lens orders.

  • Precisely measure lenses for the best visual experience.

  • Troubleshoot issues with new or existing prescription orders.

  • Quality inspect and verifies lenses.

  • Perform adjustments and repairs of eyewear.

  • Provide follow-up with patients regarding the fit and satisfaction of their eyewear.

  • Handle incoming telephone calls and respond to or redirect them to the appropriate department.

  • Triage emergency calls during operating hours

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Proficiency in Windows-based software and Microsoft applications

  • Strong time management and organizational skills, with attention to detail.

  • Clear and professional verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to set priorities, manage multiple tasks, and handle challenging situations with tact, professionalism and diplomacy.

  • Manual Dexterity

  • Exceptional attention to detail, critical thinking, communication, and priority-setting skills with the ability to handle challenging situations tactfully and diplomatically.

These qualifications are assets, but are not required for the success of this role:

  • Familiarity with an electronic records management system

  • Previous experience in an optical environment

  • Previous sales experience

  • Canadian Certified Optometric Assistant (CCOA) certification

Job Type: Full-time up to 40 hours per week.

Pay: Starting at $20/ hour; however, the wage will correspond with experience and education.
