POSITION SUMMARY
A Quality Assurance Lead is a key position responsible for overseeing and managing quality control processes within the organization. This role involves developing, implementing, and maintaining quality assurance standards and procedures to ensure that products or services meet or exceed established quality and performance criteria. The Quality Assurance Lead ensures quality and food safety in the facility and is responsible for meeting the quality targets. This position coordinates activities in accordance with SQF standards and customer requirements and builds a strong quality culture within the Quality team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
-
Microbiological analysis - Collect various daily samples and perform microbial analysis on each sample daily. All results are recorded in the appropriate logbooks. Report all non-conformances for corrective action to Plant Manager and take appropriate actions to resolve.

Investigate customer complaints as required and determine the cause of all contamination problems that result from microbial analysis.

Testing and Verification of results - Water Testing - Test for TDS, turbidity, pH, water temperature, ozone, weight and any special customer testing request.

Calibrate Equipment - Calibrate all testing equipment at required schedule.
-
Ensure ozone settings and ozone records are complete and accurate.

Audits - Participate in various facility audits with the Plant Manager. Ensure all finished product and raw materials are within specification. Ensure all GMP's and HACCP procedures are followed.

General Administration: Prepare corrective action reports. Ensure all Quality and Sanitation records are up to date and filed correctly. General filing, data entry and other various office type tasks.

Train machine operators, QA Technician and Sanitation Technician on quality standards and applicable procedures; ensure enforcement of procedures and policies.

Oversee daily sanitation of filler room and weekly sanitation of the production line and ozone tower as per set specifications and work orders.

Responsible for all chemicals in the facility, the ordering of, inventory lists and assisting in the training of employees on uses.

Communicate to staff ensuring all standards for Quality Assurance are understood and implemented. Report progress to Plant Manager and Corporate Quality Assurance.

Prepare product water according to customer specification and ensure that all analysis are within mineral specification.

Complies with corporate HACCP and SQF programs, applying all program elements to the facility ensuring compliance with functional area responsibilities.

Relieve Quality Assurance Technicians as required.
EDUCATION/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
-
Post-Secondary Degree or Diploma in related field combined with 2- 4 management/supervisory experience in quality assurance, preferably in the non-durable goods sector.

Product testing – quality control specialists need a solid understanding of product testing, along with a firm grasp of best practices for testing product construction and durability against specifications.
-
Problem-solving skills – effective quality control specialists need to be adept problem-solvers, skilled at proposing and implementing solutions to manufacturing defects and recurring quality control issues.
-
Communication skills – effective communication is also vital in this role, allowing quality control specialists to inform plant managers and personnel about defects and manufacturing delays. Written & Oral communication.

Previous leadership experience.

Must be able to perform repetitive tasks for extended periods of time including standing, walking, bending, twisting, kneeling, reaching, and lifting.
