We currently have a full-time opportunity with our Lumber Yard Team. The position will be supporting Sawmill weekend production hours. Currently 12-hour night shifts Friday, Saturday and Sunday. You will be responsible for safely and efficiently operating a forklift to move stacked lumber from the sawmill to storage or the kilns. This position will report to the Lumber Yard Team Lead.
Key Functions:
- Operate and complete PMs on the fork truck
- Load and Unload lumber from chains & kiln carts
- Clean up duties
Qualifications
The successful candidate will have demonstrated the following:
- Behavior consistent with the Safety Vision and Policy and the Site Principles.
- Ability to meet all Team Norms and Standards with a clear focus on active participation in the Safety Program.
- Ability to prioritize and learn quickly.
- Willing and able to perform all duties of the role
- Demonstrated positive leadership capability
- Aptitude for and experience in equipment operations
- Ability to work as a team and independently
- Grade 12 Or equivalent
- Valid Driver's Licence required
- Strong attention to detail
- Possess a valid forklift license or ability to obtain one will be necessary for this position.
- Preference will be given to current heavy equipment operators with applicable skills.
- Strong aptitude for and experience in heavy equipment operations.
- Strong interpersonal, listening and communication skills (verbal & written).
- Ability to prioritize and learn quickly.
- Willingness to wear all required personal protective equipment
- Willingness to work a rotating shift
- Able to work in extreme temperatures, in dusty and noisy conditions, while wearing safety equipment
- Able to complete mobile equipment training
- Able to lift 2-20 pounds regularly, and climb steps and ladders
- Must have basic computer skills
- Must be able to work independently
- Ability to work within a team setting
- Eligible to work in Canada without sponsorship
- Flexibility to meet the changing needs within the business
- Industrial or Manufacturing experience is a plus
- Experience in a self-directed team environment is a plus
- Lockouts as required for this area
- Shift schedule is 10 hours per shift, Tuesday-Friday Day Shift, and Monday to Thursday Afternoon Shift.
Offers of employment will be conditional upon satisfactory completion of substance testing, background check, and agreement with general terms of work.
