About the role
Job Description The Supervisor, Accounting Operations leads a small transactional accounting team and oversees key accounting functions with a primary focus on billing operations, accounts receivable, reconciliation. The role will support audits, customer contract administration, regulatory reporting and financial modeling. In addition, the Supervisor helps ensure the completeness and accuracy of monthly financial reporting, which could include varied analysis and accounting entries, collaborating with and supporting other finance team members. The ideal candidate is a hands-on, detail-oriented leader with strong problem-solving abilities and a proven track record for managing accounting operations. This individual is comfortable working independently and can pivot quickly as responsibilities evolve due to shifts in organizational needs.
Note: This position qualifies for an optional hybrid work schedule after 90 days of onsite work and onboarding. Employee will be subject to the terms of the Flexible Work Policy Agreement. What You’ll Do
- Supervise and support two accounting coordinators, ensuring daily operations run efficiently and accurately.
- Manage billing and accounts receivable operations for assigned business units, including customer account setup, invoicing, credit reviews, collections, and escalations.
- Assist in drafting and reviewing customer contracts; negotiate terms and manage escalations.
- Manages customer contract and tariff rate structures and tables within systems, including periodic escalations.
- Reconcile AR and AP sub-ledgers to the general ledger; maintain monthly balance sheet support schedules.
- Review and post batches, accruals, and adjustments; resolve discrepancies and escalate issues as needed.
- Support the annual audit process by preparing schedules and responding to auditor inquiries, and other regulatory filings.
- Collaborate cross functionally to troubleshoot systems and issues and implement improvements to accounting processes.
- Oversee and maintain financial system data hierarchies and contract/tariff rate tables, including periodic updates and escalations.
- Contribute to policy and procedure development, with a continuous improvement mindset.
- Develop and deliver training and documentation for accounting systems and processes.
- Provides support and analysis to the accounting function as required.
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field required.
- CPA or equivalent professional designation is required.
- 5-8 years of progressive accounting experience, including hands-on work with accounts receivable, reconciliations and reporting.
- At least 2 years of supervisory experience, preferably in a transactional accounting environment.
- Strong leadership and coaching abilities; able to manage a small team effectively.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to manage and resolve complex accounting issues.
- Highly organized, self-directed, and adaptable to change.
- Strong understanding of Canadian ASPE and internal controls.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, presentation skills.
- Comfortable leading and supporting systems and process improvement initiatives.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure, managing competing deadlines, and stakeholders.
- High level of professionalism, customer service orientation, and confidentiality.

The estimated salary for this position is $109,800 - $134,200 . In determining final salary, Seaspan considers many factors including the successful Candidate’s skillset and experience as well as position location and internal equity. The final base salary offer will be at the Company’s sole discretion and presented as part of a competitive total compensation package.
