Security Officers - Deer Lake Motel

Site Description:
The Deer Lake Motel is at the junction of the Trans-Canada Highway/Route 1 and Route 430, this straightforward motel is 2 km from the town centre on Deer Lake, and 4.4 km from Deer Lake Airport. The newly renovated rooms are comfortable, affordable, and the perfect home base for your stay in Deer Lake and Western Newfoundland.
Position: Casual
Site: Deer Lake Motel
Overtime: Overtime after 48 hours
Hours: As needed
Payrate: $19.00
Posting Date: August 14, 2025
Internal Closing Date: August 21, 2025
External Closing Date: August 28, 2025
Key responsibilities:
- On site security will patrol the interior and exterior of the site, escort staff to and from their vehicle when requested, and ensure the safety of all staff and clients through presence, observation, verbal de-escalation, and escalation to law enforcement when deemed necessary.
- Security will observe and report any suspicious activity including loitering, vandalism, theft, property damage, trespassing, and other offences. All trespassers will be respectfully and politely escorted of the premises.
- Security will complete other reasonable requests and duties as requested.
- Security will provide a daily report outlining the events of the day to management and staff for their records.
Prerequisites:
- Clear Criminal Record Check (Letter of Conduct)
- Valid Class 5 Driver License & must be willing to accept shifts at all sites within a reasonable driving distance.
- English (oral and written) fluency is a must
- Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred.
- Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)
- Applicants lacking these certifications can opt into Paladin's UoF/MOAB training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position
- Please be aware: The UoF/MOAB training is not paid as it is a pre-requisite; however, Paladin will cover all of the costs of the training with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability
