About the role

Role Description The Registered Nurse at UWSiO is a full-time, on-site role based in North York, ON. The nurse will provide direct patient care within the organization’s health services, including assessment, care planning, implementation, and evaluation in accordance with professional standards and organizational policies. Day-to-day tasks include monitoring patient status, administering medications and treatments, collaborating with interdisciplinary team members, and maintaining accurate clinical documentation. The role also involves educating patients and community members on health promotion and disease prevention, supporting health-related initiatives for students and staff, and ensuring a safe, inclusive care environment. The Registered Nurse will participate in quality improvement activities, adhere to regulatory requirements, and contribute to a culture of continuous learning and collaboration.

Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing with the appropriate provincial regulatory body (e.g., CNO) and eligibility to practice in Ontario. Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and care planning skills, with experience in administering medications, performing treatments, and monitoring patient responses. Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and compassionately with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams, including effective documentation and patient education. Knowledge of infection control, safety protocols, and evidence-based nursing practices, with a commitment to maintaining a safe and inclusive care environment. Proficiency in using electronic health records and basic digital tools to document care, track outcomes, and coordinate services. Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary, academic-oriented setting, supporting health initiatives and educational activities for students and staff. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) or equivalent; experience in community health, occupational health, or primary care settings is an asset. Demonstrated reliability, organizational skills, and adaptability to evolving clinical and educational needs within an innovative environment.
