About the Role
A leading AI research initiative is seeking Physics PhD experts to contribute to a frontier project advancing large language models (LLMs).
In this role, you’ll leverage your deep subject-matter expertise to design, evaluate, and refine high-quality physics problems that challenge AI systems to reason with precision and scientific rigor.
Your work will directly influence how next-generation AI models understand and replicate real-world reasoning in physics — spanning classical mechanics, electromagnetism, thermodynamics, quantum mechanics, and relativity.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and assess complex, real-world physics problems across major subfields.
- Evaluate AI-generated responses for scientific accuracy, mathematical rigor, and conceptual depth.
- Provide clear, structured written feedback on model outputs and solutions.
- Collaborate asynchronously with AI researchers to improve reasoning, consistency, and fidelity in physics-related datasets.
- Maintain academic precision and ensure all content meets the highest standards of scientific integrity.
Ideal Qualifications
- PhD in Physics or a closely related discipline from a top-tier university.
- 2+ years of experience in academia or research (teaching, publication, or professional work as a physicist/engineer).
- Strong analytical reasoning and exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Prior experience evaluating academic or technical content preferred.
Project Timeline
- Start Date: Immediate
- Duration: 1–2 months
- Commitment: Part-time (~20 hours/week, extendable to 40 hours/week)
- Schedule: Fully remote and asynchronous — work flexibly on your own time
Compensation & Contract
- Rate: $70–$85 USD/hour (based on experience)
- Contract Type: Independent contractor
- Payments: Weekly via Stripe Connect
Application & Onboarding Process
- Submit your resume and brief application form.
- Complete a 15-minute AI interview focused on your domain expertise and interests.
- Participate in a paid, 4-hour work trial to demonstrate your ability to create and evaluate physics-specific content.
⚡ PS: Mercor team reviews applications daily. Please complete your AI interview and application steps to be considered for this opportunity. ⚡
About Call For Referral
Call for Referral will help job seekers to find referrals for jobs or internships.
Call For Referral is going to simplify the process of asking for referrals for candidates to one single referral request rather than 1000 DMs to people asking for referrals and also wea re making it easy for referrers to choose the candidate they want to refer.
we are building the most advanced referral system for job seekers, companies, and recruiters. Seems Excited!! stay tuned. We are opening Call For referral for #referrers, #referral, #candidates and #recruiters
