About the role

Job Overview:

The Deputy SSMC supports and reports to the SSMC and fills the SSCM roles when that person is away on turnaround, vacation or for other reasons. The Deputy SSMC, when acting as SSMC, will report directly to the MDR Site Security Lead (SSL) and Deputy Site Security Lead (DSSL).

The Deputy SSMC will assist the SSMC to supervise and manage the other Security and Mobility Coordinators within the MDR Security team. The incumbent will be responsible for leading, overseeing and providing security coordination support to the MDR Security Management Team.

The incumbent’s role will include a variety of tasks, some of which are logistical or administrative in nature while others will involve working directly with other subcontractors and subcontracted security entities such as guards and drug dogs. The role will also involve tasks associated with mobilization and training (site mobilization training requirements) of New Hires, developing water taxi schedules for the Project, and making Floatel room bookings for MDR employees and some MDR subcontractors.

Base Salary Range : $92,300 – 107,900 (The range provided is for base salary only (40 hours per week). In addition, McDermott offers additional contracted hours, and a competitive total rewards package, including project up-lift & bonuses)

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Direct supervision and leadership of the other Security and Mobilization Coordinators
  • Management of the core security coordination and mobilization tasks as outlined below
  • Administrative rights over the Project ID/Badging database. Duties include:
    • Processing Mobilization Request forms from subcontractors and preparing personnel profiles within the ID database
      • Preparing daily lists of New Hires mobilizing to site, and distributing to guards for their use at access points
    • Taking/uploading ID photos into the personnel files on the database
    • Printing and distributing ID badges
    • Designing different types of ID badges (Visitor, Mobilization, Temporary Worker, Short Duration Worker, MARSEC etc,)
    • Preparing daily, weekly and/or monthly ID/Badging statistics
    • Assisting in security investigations by analyzing swipe/scan records for individuals or groups
    • Training subcontracted guards on the use of the ID system components where necessary
    • Processing subcontractor Demobilization forms and deactivating ID badges in the system
    • Deactivating ID cards of persons banned from the Project, and marking as Denied Access in the system
  • Administrative rights over the Project CCTV database
    • Training subcontracted guards on the use of the CCTV system, where required
    • Assisting in investigations through capturing video data in usable form
  • Processing Mobilization email requests
    • Creating individual file folders for all New Hires to the Project on the Security OneDrive
    • Verifying that all Mobilization requirements are met and that certificates are stored in the individual’s file folder in the OneDrive
    • Correlating this information on the ID System database
  • Processing Demobilization emails
    • Moving individual file folder to the Demob folder within the One Drive
    • Correlating with the ID database and badging system
  • Processing Visit/SDW Request forms and approving, or not, these Visit/SDW requests (Note: This task will often be done by the SSL or DSSL.
    • Preparing Daily Visitor Lists and distributing to guards for use at all access points
    • Monitoring Visitor ID cards on the ID database. Deactivating Visitor ID that are not returned at end of Visits.
  • Processing and approving, or not, Camera Pass Requests (Note: This task will often be done by the SSL or DSSL
    • Scanning and saving copies of all Camera Pass Requests and Site Photography agreements
    • Maintaining the Master List of persons authorized to take photos/video
    • Issuing Camera Pass stickers
  • Maintaining the ETMP Master Signatory List and processing ETMP submitted from guards (Note: This task will often be done by the SSL or DSSL)
    • Obtaining specimen signatures of persons authorized to sign ETMP
    • Sending updates lists to guards for use at Access Points
    • Processing/saving in the Security folders all ETMP and photos submitted by the guards
  • Processing Vehicle Pass Request forms (Note: This task will often be done by the SSL or DSSL)
    • Scanning and saving Vehicle pass, insurance and registration information in individual folders for each vehicle
    • Maintaining the Master List of light vehicles approved for site
    • Preparing, printing and distributing Regular Vehicle Passes for all approved light vehicles
  • Assisting in maintaining the Project Denied Access List, ensuring synchronization with the ID/Badging database
  • Collecting daily stats from the guard force and other security entities and preparing daily, weekly and/or monthly reports
  • Assisting at Consequence Management Committee hearings
    • Booking hearing dates and sending out invitations to Committee members
    • Preparing and distributing reading packages of the incident files for Committee members to pre-read
    • Taking detailed notes during hearings
    • Maintaining the CMC Hearing Master Log
    • Updating the DAL and ID database based on hearing results
  • Assisting with the Lost and Found program on site
    • Verifying Lost and Found records kept by uniformed guards are accurate
  • Assisting with security intelligence collection/correlation
  • Assisting with Security investigations
  • Assisting with Security Education and Awareness programs and initiatives
  • Assisting in drug dog inspections
  • Assisting in and/or conducting searches
  • Assisting in Security exercises, drills and penetration/procedure tests
    • Maintaining the logs for Drills, Exercises and P-Tests
  • Performing a variety of logistical and Mobility-related tasks including, but not limited to the following:
    • Coordinating and implementing MDR Orientation training on site

    • Coordinating and facilitating Cultural Awareness training on site

    • Collecting training statistics for MDR Orientation and Cultural Awareness Training

    • Initiating contact with MDR new hires to coordinate the collection of all required Mobilization documentation

    • Providing New Hires with dates for MDR Orientation and Cultural Awareness Training

    • Assisting with creating water taxi schedules for the Project

    • Assisting with travel schedules (i.e. bussing, water taxis etc.)

    • Assisting with Floatel room allocations to contractors

    • Creating profiles in the Floatel Nomadis booking system for MDR and Subcontractor New Hires

    • Booking rooms within Nomadis for MDR and some MDR subcontractor employees

Essential Qualifications and Education:

  • Strong leadership and management skills
  • Strong administrative skills, knowledge and background
  • Knowledgeable on Microsoft Office suite of programs (Office, PowerPoint, Excel etc.)
  • Strong Logistical skills. Experience in travel logistics such as coordinating flights, hotel bookings and bussing or other travel schedules
  • Strong planning skills
  • Strong conflict resolution skills
  • Willing and able to work either Night Shift or Day Shift
  • Willing and able to work in a remote, camp style environment
  • Excellent English verbal and writing language skills
  • High degree of discretion and professionalism

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working with or supervising contracted guards
  • Strong knowledge of core security principles
  • Previous Security experience
  • Experience working with ID and CCTV systems and databases
  • Experience working with Hotel booking systems
  • Previous experience on major Industrial Project Construction sites
  • Strong interpersonal, listening and communications skills, capacity to build trust among internal and external stakeholders
  • Established track record as a self-starter with the ability to work and succeed without direct supervision
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in high-stress and challenging environments
  • Team player – ability to influence without authority, and support the success of a team
