Westerner Park is seeking a Casual Line Cook to join our dynamic team. The Line Cook primarily works during events at concession locations within the Centrium and Pavilions and plays a key role in delivering high-quality, fast-paced food service. This hands-on position is responsible for preparing and serving concession-style food items while maintaining food safety, quality, and efficiency standards. The Line Cook may also support kitchen operations for special events, catering, and banquets as required.

Under the direction of the Assistant Manager, Food & Beverage Services, the Line Cook is responsible for the following:

Concession Operations:

  • Prepare and cook concession-style food items such as burgers, chicken sandwiches, fries, and hot dogs in a high-volume environment.
  • Set up and maintain concession stations in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Ensure food is prepared quickly, safely, and consistently to quality and presentation standards.
  • Follow recipes, portion controls, and specifications for all menu items.
  • Restock ingredients, condiments, and supplies throughout shifts to support continuous service.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and sanitary workstations, including grills, fryers, counters, and serving areas.
  • Serve food at appropriate temperatures and in proper portion sizes.
  • Assist guests with orders and accommodate special requests or dietary needs where possible.
  • Work efficiently under pressure during peak service periods while maintaining accuracy and consistency.

Kitchen Support:

  • Assist in the preparation and cooking of kitchen menu items as required.
  • Support kitchen cleanliness, sanitation, and organization, including workspaces, equipment, and storage areas.
  • Properly label, store, and rotate food items to maintain freshness and food safety standards.
  • Assist with timely food preparation to meet operational and event demands.
  • Adhere to all safety and sanitation policies, including food safety, infection control, and safe equipment handling.
  • Support supervisors with food preparation, storage, and general kitchen operations as needed.

Safety & Sanitation:

  • Follow all food safety and handling procedures, including proper storage, allergen awareness, and hygiene standards.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment at all times.
  • Comply with workplace safety policies and procedures.

Operational Support:

  • Adapt to changing priorities and assist with additional duties as required.
  • Support both concession and kitchen teams to ensure efficient overall operations during events.

Here is what you bring:

  • Minimum of 1 year of cooking experience preferred, ideally in a high-volume or concession-style environment
  • Food Safe or Food Handler Certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Knowledge of food preparation methods, sanitation standards, and safe food handling practices
  • Ability to follow standardized recipes and portion specifications
  • Strong time management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize during peak periods
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to problem-solve and adapt in a fast-paced environment
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Positive attitude and strong work ethic with a team-oriented approach
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays based on event needs
  • Ability to work in a high-pressure, fast-paced kitchen or concession environment with exposure to heat, noise, and large crowds
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
