Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Fire Alarm Service Manager to lead our fire alarm service team branch in London. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing inspection, testing, maintenance, and repairs of fire alarm and life safety systems, ensuring compliance with all relevant codes and regulations, including CAN/ULC-S536, CAN/ULC-S537, and the Ontario Fire Code (OFC).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage day-to-day operations of the fire alarm service department, including resource allocation and technician support.

  • Ensure all inspections, testing, and maintenance activities are completed accurately, on time, and in compliance with applicable codes and standards.

  • Supervise and mentor fire alarm technicians; provide technical support and training.

  • Liaise with clients, contractors, AHJs (Authorities Having Jurisdiction), and internal departments to ensure customer satisfaction and project success.

  • Review and approve inspection reports, deficiency findings, and repair proposals.

  • Maintain accurate service records and generate performance reports for upper management.

  • Assist with estimating and quoting for fire alarm service and repair work.

  • Ensure company policies, safety procedures, and industry regulations are adhered to by all field staff.

  • Manage inventory levels and ensure availability of required parts and equipment.

  • Keep up to date with changes in fire alarm technologies and local code requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in fire alarm service or related field, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.
  • Certification as a CFAA Registered Technician (Canadian Fire Alarm Association) is required.
  • Strong knowledge of fire alarm codes and standards: CAN/ULC-S536, CAN/ULC-S537, Ontario Building Code, and Ontario Fire Code.
  • Post-secondary education in electronics, fire protection, or related technical discipline is an asset.
  • Proven leadership and team management abilities.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid Ontario driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Proficient in the use of service management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to pass security clearance checks as required by some clients (e.g., government, healthcare).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with major fire alarm system manufacturers (e.g., Mircom, Notifier, Siemens, Edwards).
  • Project management experience or PMP certification is an asset.
  • NICET or other relevant fire protection certifications.

Working Conditions:

  • Primarily office-based with regular field visits across SW Ontario.

  • Occasional after-hours availability required for emergency service support.

  • Ability to lift up to 25 kg and work in various building environments when needed.
