Job Description Position Overview: We are seeking a Leasing Law Clerk for a temporary contract (18 months, with possibility of extension) to support our Legal team to cover a team member who has taken maternity leave. This role is ideal for candidates seeking short-term employment or contract work.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Review, negotiate and draft documents for a full range of real estate transactions including leases, offers to lease, letters of intent, amending agreements, extensions, surrenders, easements, restrictive covenants, estoppels, and license agreements.
- Conduct analysis and prepare legal opinions regarding the interpretation of leases and related agreements.
- Advise business colleagues and draft correspondence in relation to landlord/tenant disputes.
- Liaise with external counsel, as necessary.
- Assist with real estate project tracking, including status updates, deadline monitoring, and coordination of internal approvals.
- Assist with other real estate projects.
- Other duties as assigned from time to time to support the Legal team.
- Handling confidential and sensitive information with discretion, professionalism, and a high level of integrity.
Qualifications
- College law clerk diploma.
- Minimum 3 years experience as a leasing clerk in a reputable company or law firm office environment.
- High level of proficiency in MS Office programs including: Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Availability to start immediately and commit to the full contract term.
