ANC is currently recruiting for the role of Millwright. This position is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment. Your work will ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of mill production. ANC will provide training to the successful candidate. The successful incumbent for this role will have a Journeyman Millwright ticket and industrial Millwright experience.

Reporting to the Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor, this role allows an individual to work both independently and within a collective team. This position works a 40-hour workweek from Monday to Thursday, 10 hours per day, with on-call shifts and overtime as required.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

  • Troubleshoot, inspect, service, and repair mill equipment.

  • Fit bearings, align gears and shafts, attach motors, and connect couplings and belts to precise tolerances.

  • Read diagrams, schematic drawings, and service manuals to set work procedures.

  • Repair, replace and/or fabricate parts as needed.

  • Plan, lead, and coordinate projects, and assist with capital projects.

  • Manage spare parts for equipment.

  • Direct external vendors to provide parts and technical assistance to the mill.

  • Assist in the development of preventative maintenance schedules and perform tasks as required.

  • Maintain the shop cleanliness to ensure quality rebuilds.

  • Be available for emergency call-ins to troubleshoot equipment problems as needed and required.

  • Follow all safety procedures, including lockout/tagout, confined space, and rigging protocols.

  • Other duties, as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Journeyman Millwright ticket and Grade 12 diploma are required.

  • 3+ years of experience in a similar role in an industrial setting is required. Pulp and paper experience is considered a strong asset.

  • Valid Driver’s License is required.

  • Safety-focused mindset and strong knowledge of safe work practices.

  • Have a sense of responsibility, accountability and ownership of your work. Be a self-starter and self-motivated to complete tasks and meet deadlines.

  • Able to successfully work both independently with minimal supervision, and as a part of a team.

  • Demonstrate effective communication with a variety of personalities and roles.

  • Basic computer skills with Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.

  • Experience using a computer-based maintenance system and an electronic task logging system is an asset.

COMPENSATION

  • ANC offers a competitive, structured wage progression within our Maintenance department that recognizes skill development, performance, and contribution at every stage. Progression through the below levels typically takes 7 years at minimum.
    • Rate 9: entry-level, single trade rate where employees begin developing core competencies.
    • Rates 9.5 - 10.5: progression reflects demonstrated skill advancement, experience, and consistent performance. 0.5 level increases typically awarded annually.
    • Rate 11: awarded to dual-trade journeymen with tenure at ANC.
    • Rate 11.5: acknowledges extensive involvement in projects and company committees.
    • Rate 12: represents leadership and organizational impact, including committee leadership, mentorship of junior colleagues, and helping to shape the direction of the team.
