DevOps/Cloud Engineer - Senior (RQ10766) Client: Ministry of Public and Business Service Delivery and Procurement
Work Location: 5700 Yonge Street, Toronto, Ontario (Onsite)
Contract: April 1, 2026 - October 5, 2027 (497 business days)
Hours: 7.25 hours per day (8:00-5:00 PM, Mon-Fri excluding lunch)
Security Level: CRJMC
About The Role Senior DevOps/Cloud Engineer providing AWS platform expertise for Public Health domain solutions. This extended onsite role (19+ months) designs, builds, and supports secure cloud environments, manages Linux/Red-Hat infrastructure, monitors application performance/availability, implements microservices/container architectures (Kubernetes/Docker/serverless), and delivers comprehensive technical documentation for long-term sustainment.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver AWS cloud platform expertise for Public Health solutions.
- Design, build, and support high-availability cloud environments.
- Administer Linux/Red-Hat systems (installation, troubleshooting, hardening, automation scripting).
- Monitor/assess cloud application performance and implement security/data integrity safeguards.
- Review production logs; provide proactive performance/security recommendations.
- Implement microservices/distributed architectures (containers, Kubernetes, serverless).
- Produce detailed system design, integration, configuration, and implementation documentation.
Must-Have Technical Skills (50%) AWS Cloud Management (10+ years)
- Create/manage/maintain AWS production environments.
- Deploy/automate cloud applications and infrastructure.
- Ensure availability, performance, security, and scalability.

- 5+ years Unix/Linux (Solaris, Red Hat): installation/troubleshooting/hardening/scripting
- 3+ years Kubernetes/Docker administration
- Cloud security implementation (identity, network, encryption)
- GitLab/CI-CD DevOps pipelines
Core Skills & Experience (30%) Production Operations (10+ years)
- Production environment troubleshooting/performance tuning
- System design models and technical specifications
- Development environments (JIRA, Confluence, Maven, Jenkins)
Development & Automation
- Scripting: Python, Bash, PHP, Java, JavaScript, Node.js
- Build tools: Git, Ansible, Chef, Puppet
- Docker containers; API development/integration
- AWS monitoring/metrics/logging systems
- Operational process automation
Public Sector Experience (5%)
- 5+ years federal/provincial healthcare providers
- Public Sector EA artifacts, PMI/I&IT methodologies
- Ministry policy and governance processes
- Large complex health IT projects

Position Details
- Onsite required (8:00-5:00 PM Mon-Fri excluding lunch)
- CRJMC security clearance required
- Extended 19-month contract (through Oct 2027)
- Extensions limited to unused contract days/funds only
Required Qualifications Candidates must demonstrate 10+ years AWS production expertise (VPC/EC2/S3/Lambda/Redshift), 5+ years Linux/Red-Hat administration, 3+ years Kubernetes/Docker, proven cloud security implementation, and public health sector experience for long-term mission-critical infrastructure sustainment.
