Senior Coordinator, Environmental, Health and Safety
Quantum Lifecycle Partners LP is the leading and largest vertically integrated IT Asset Disposition & Recycling processor in Canada. Position Summary
We are looking for a Senior EHS Coordinator to join our team! This position will be responsible for assisting with all health & safety functions, including OHS compliance, investigations, JHSC, training, reporting, and administrative tasks. Working closely with HR, Operations and the Compliance/Management System team, this individual will be the first point of contact for health and safety support with visible, hands-on and field EHS execution and coaching, making safety and environmental controls real in daily work. The 80/20 model for field/admin work would be required for this role.
This position reports to the EHS Manager and supports Toronto and other locations within the province. Occasional travel within the province may be required.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance by the company to OHS laws, regulations, and standards, as well as the application of these in the organization
- Participate and support as needed in investigations and accident analysis
- Review all incidents, accidents and near miss reports, as well as review and follow up with relevant departments regarding corrective action status
- Assisting leaders with completing workplace injury packages ahead of sending to external third party
- Actively participate in the Joint Health & Safety Committee, and facilitate facility inspections
- Promote safety awareness through developing daily/ weekly safety talks for Supervisors and content for the communication board
- Provide daily safety support and information to all employees
- Review H&S master training matrix and highlight deficiencies for Operations Managers to schedule training
- Strong floor presence, manufacturing/industrial environment experience and the ability to influence supervisor and workers.
- Deliver toolbox talks with supervisors using site-specific examples
- Update operational safety metrics
- Conduct spill prevention and response readiness checks
- Weekly checks on waste storage areas (segregation, labelling, container condition).
- Real-time response to hazards, near misses, spills, and unsafe conditions, implement immediate controls, escalate as needed
- Train new employees on Quantum's processes, procedures, and safety standards in addition to non-ops-related training content
- Review the site's assessment table and ensure that compliance with all scheduled dates (backflow testing, scale calibration, dust collector, PMs etc.)
- Complete operational portion of H&S orientation through supervisors/team leaders, assign buddy, and complete follow-up on evaluation of training
- Complete/Review hazards submitted and work with Operations Managers to close out and develop action plans
- Complete audits on the flammable material cabinets/ SDS binders and action any deficiencies
- Update communication boards as needed
- Review employee suggestions and coordinate with appropriate stakeholders to develop a team and resolve and implement solutions
- Schedule and maintain pest control program, fire suppression program etc.
- Complete inspections on equipment and building as required
- Willingness to work flexible schedules to cover morning/afternoon shifts
Other administrative duties as required may include:
- Documenting information for weekly reports
- Compiling data to generate month end inventory reports
- Performing contractor verification for COI and WCB, and updating appropriate records (upcoming responsibility)
- Coordinates with outside vendors that perform onsite services and schedule site visits.
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in the Occupational Health and Safety field, with preference given to those with 5+ years of experience.
- Minimum 5+ years’ experience with supporting certification audits or internal auditing as related to the EHS function.
- Knowledge and understanding of workers’ compensation legislation.
- Strong multi-tasking skills with the ability to effectively cope with conflicting priorities and deadlines.
- Manufacturing experience is an asset.
- Proficient in MS Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Organized, a self-starter and have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to deal with conflict effectively.
