We are seeking a compassionate and dedicatedChild and Youth Care Counsellorto support children aged5 to 18, helping them unlock their full potential through personalized care and support. Reporting to the Program Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for assessing client needs, developing individualized strategies, and establishing indicators to measure progress toward goals. They will implement and facilitate these strategies—primarily in community-based settings—and evaluate client progress through detailed reports and activity notes. The role includes providing recreational, educational, and social learning opportunities, promoting peer interaction, and maintaining a clean and organized environment. Responsibilities also include participating in events, offering feedback to new staff, and attending case review meetings. The counsellor will manage schedules, record expenses, and collaborate with other professionals.
#Qualifications
The ideal candidate for this position will possess a combination of relevant education, training, and experience working with children aged 5 to 18 who have developmental disabilities. A Class 4 driver’s license (or the ability to obtain one within six months) and access to a reliable vehicle are required, along with a valid Level I First Aid certificate.
Strong interpersonal, counseling, communication, and organizational skills are essential, as are creativity, flexibility, and the ability to work independently. Experience in group facilitation, program development, and a solution-focused approach is highly valued. The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to work effectively as part of a team and uphold a high standard of confidentiality.
- An eligibility list may be maintained for up to six months. Eligible applicants may be offered a casual position.
This role requires the incumbent to undergo a Police Information Check (PIC), and a Vulnerable Sector Check by the Ministry of Justice.
