Team & Culture

As an experienced payroll expert, the successful candidate will have worked in unionized and/or construction environments with 200+ employees. As an organized professional with a great eye for detail, you will carry out the traditional payroll function tasks autonomously while also being able to work collaboratively within a team. Your primary function will be the processing of payroll on a bi-weekly basis and will include working collaboratively with the People & Culture department in the collection and processing of employee documentation. This will include onboarding and offboarding functions, Health benefits and Group RRSP details, and staying responsive to administrative requirements. This role serves as the lead Payroll Specialist for the Dent Group, responsible for overseeing payroll and resolving complex payroll issues across all group companies.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and review time collection in field reporting software ensuring complete and accurate time entry

  • Process biweekly payroll and submit all remittances

  • Produce annual T4 and all other required reporting.

  • Reconcile job costs to payroll expense and maintain accurate employee unit costs

  • Produce regular labour cost reports for the management team

  • Other accounting and payroll duties as required

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Minimum 3 years of payroll experience in a similar setting

  • Strong knowledge of Canadian payroll requirements

  • Proven experience using Microsoft Excel at an advanced level

  • Experience with Acumatica, ADP and HCSS Heavy Job considered an asset

  • National Payroll Institute designation is preferred, such as PCP or CPM

  • Ability to multi-task, work under pressure, and meet deadlines

  • Experienced working in a fast paced and dynamic environment

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written

  • A passion for problem solving, and be highly detail oriented

  • Willingness to learn and adapt to change under pressure

Candidates will be subject to a satisfactory Criminal Record Check and credit check. While preference will be given to candidates who can work in our Kelowna or Hope offices, remote or hybrid arrangements can be accommodated for the right candidate.
