##About this Opportunity:
This is a hands-on dynamic role which reports to the VP, Engineering & Projects in the Engineering Department. The Senior Project Engineer’s primary responsibility is to work with the NEBC Asset Team, Production Engineering Team, Operations and other stakeholders in the development and execution of facilities and pipeline projects. The primary focus of this role is to work closely with Asset Development team and develop cost effective strategic options and solutions from drilling & completions locations and associated infrastructure to optimizing existing infrastructure such as pads, pipeline, processing facilities and access to market. This includes the design and construction of greenfield and brownfield production facilities, gas/liquid processing plants and pipelines.
This role is based in Calgary and requires spending time in the field during the execution, commissioning and start-up of the facilities and pipelines.
Job functions will involve but not limited to:
- Collaborating with diversified functional teams to develop strategy and fit for purpose options and solutions
- Work closely with partners and develop full field life cycle scenarios with high level capital cost estimates, life cycle Opex and phased development approach
- Understand and consider the various regulatory requirements and include them as part of development strategy
- Developing and executing projects with the stage-gate project management methodology and processes and be responsible for the entire project development and execution life cycle
- Working with Area Asset Teams, Operations, Production Engineering, and other stakeholders in developing and scoping of projects
- Manage external engineering companies to develop project designs and engineering drawings
- Develop schedules, risk registers and cost estimates for economic evaluations and AFEs
- Lead Front End Engineering and Design for expansion of major facilities and lead the development of pre-FEED packages
- Develop DBMs and coordinate HAZOPs or What-ifs, design reviews, and 3D model reviews
- Lead Change Management process throughout project life cycle and lead the discussions with internal and external stakeholders to document the technical and commercial changes
- Actively work with the Supply Chain Management team for the procurement of equipment and materials and securing the required services. This may include the development of strategies to secure material and services for the capital programs
- Closely work with Asset Integrity team to identify pressure equipment and pressure piping / pipeline QA / QC requirements
- Manage field supervision and construction activities, including providing on-site support as required
- Lead the commissioning and start up activities with construction, engineering and operations teams and ensure to have all the outstanding action items get timely completed post start up
- Ensure timely and accurate tracking of project KPIs (cost, schedule, risk, quality etc.) on all active projects
- Regularly report the status, cost, and schedule of projects
- Lead PSSR, TCCC and project close out process with key stakeholders
- Be the champion in promoting and communicating the cost effective and safe execution of the projects
##Required Skills & Qualifications:
- P. Eng. designation with a minimum of 15 years of oil and gas facility design and construction experience
- Degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering from an accredited institution
- Experience in the design, construction, and operation of multi-well production facilities, compressor stations, gas/liquid processing plants, and pipelines.
- Current working knowledge of energy and environmental regulatory requirements as they relate to facility and pipeline construction projects
- Project management experience is required and PMP designation would be an asset
- Prior experience in developing strategy for asset optimization, retrofitting, and refurbishing of process equipment packages would be an asset
- Prior experience in planning and development of full field would be an asset
- Strong oral and written communication skills and an ability to facilitate the discussions to come up with practical solutions
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a multi-discipline group on multiple initiatives
- Strong computer skills including MS Project and knowledge of Project Control tools would be an asset
- Working knowledge of Maximo, OpenInvoice, SiteView, Qbyte, AFE navigator would be an asset
- Strong knowledge of codes and standards related to facilities and pipelines would be an asset
- Familiarity with CAD programs, 3-D Model programs and process modeling programs would be an asset
- Strong organizational, prioritization and troubleshooting skills would be an asset
- Experience in an operating company and in working with Operations and Production Engineering would be an asset
