The company operates two divisions:
- Montreal Division – Approximately 250,000 sq. ft. manufacturing facility
- Mesa, Arizona Division – First 250,000 sq. ft. facility began production in early 2025; an additional 334,000 sq. ft. facility will begin production in 2026
Position Overview
The Corporate Controller reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and is a key member of the CFO’s leadership team. This role interacts at the most senior levels of the organization, including the Board of Directors (Audit Committee).
The Corporate Controller will oversee and direct the company’s financial and operational accounting functions, ensuring efficient and effective day-to-day operations. They will implement and interpret financial policies, procedures, and controls to ensure the integrity of financial statements and compliance with GAAP, SEC requirements, and IFRS standards.
Key Responsibilities
Development of the Accounting Organization
- Assess and optimize the capabilities of the accounting team, upgrading talent where appropriate.
- Build a cohesive, motivated team that works collaboratively as valued partners with the broader business.
Corporate Accounting
- Direct all day-to-day technical and financial accounting activities, including monthly financial reporting, consolidation, and close processes.
- Develop and implement efficient accounting department structures and processes.
- Establish and maintain an effective internal control structure with self-audit procedures to ensure consistent application of accounting policies.
Internal Controls
- Develop and implement strong internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures to ensure data integrity and safeguard assets.
- Ensure timely filing and accurate completion of all reporting requirements, including MD&A and footnotes for bondholders, intermediaries, and regulatory bodies.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory mandates while working closely with the independent Audit Committee Chair.
Business & Corporate Development
- Collaborate with the CFO in reviewing growth initiatives, including new products, business segments, major geographical expansions, acquisitions, and divestitures.
Within the first year, the Corporate Controller will:
- Develop internal accounting policies and procedures to ensure financial reporting integrity and asset protection.
- Significantly improve the accounting close process to enable accurate and timely operating results.
- Support financial analytics by providing accurate data, templates, and insights.
- Build a client-service orientation within the finance organization while installing necessary controls without hindering the company’s growth culture.
Qualifications
- Experience: 10–15 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within manufacturing or high-growth companies. Public company experience is a plus.
- Audit & Big 4 Background: Strong foundation from experience with a Big 4 audit firm; CPA required.
- Technical Finance Skills:
- Deep expertise in technical accounting policies and best practices for efficient monthly and year-end closes.
- Strong US GAAP knowledge, with the ability to engage in technical discussions with Big 4 partners.
- Familiarity with IFRS is helpful.
- Proven ability to develop and utilize financial systems and controls for risk-based audits.
