One (1) Permanent Full-Time (1.0 FTE, 35 hours/week) Application Support Technician (12 months per year)

Position S****ummary:
The Application Support Technician – Process Improvement position is responsible for operational and functional support for all applications and interfaces within the student information system product suite, as well as related parent tools for home notification and reporting of student attendance. This position is responsible for all processes related to data collection, validation, verification, and reporting to the Ministry of Education through the OnSIS submission process, as well as reporting to other external agencies. In addition, this position provides ongoing training to all types of school end users and creates and maintains a library of technical documentation to support continued learning. The Application Support Technician – Process Improvement plays a key role in supporting system optimization, future planning, and implementation of new features while improving end-user experience across the board.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Administers and provides specialized support for all applications and interfaces within the student information system product suite. As well, related parent tools for home notification and reporting of student attendance to school staff (administrative and teachers) to support day to day operations
- Provides high level support in the form of problem analysis and resolution
- Aids in the setup, configuration, and support of new/existing SIS modules and workflows to optimize operations for increased data integrity, management and funding
- Provides expert knowledge on business processes, system interactions, and dependencies with other interfaces as it relates to student information system data
- Identifies opportunities to improve processes, data quality, and system usability through automation, configuration, or validation relate to the SIS system and associated data
- Aids schools in the implementation of practices and processes to maintain accurate data and builds relationships with school staff to influence compliance
- Creates and maintains an extensive library of end user documentation and training videos
- Creates student information system security accounts for school staff to ensure access to data aligns with role of end user
- Coaches and trains end users in the importance and relevance of OnSlS related data that is maintained at the school level in the student information system and affects the funding received by the school board
- Provides ongoing communication support to clients on the status of issues where the response and/or resolution are not within the acceptable service level agreement (SLA)
- Aids in the implementation of new initiatives, projects, and applications
- Submits, validates, verifies, and signs off all educator and school data in OnSIS on behalf of all schools within ministry timelines
- Participates in or leads functional testing, user acceptance testing (UAT), and quality assurance activities for system updates and newly implemented functionality
- Coordinates with central departments and schools to ensure data accuracy and integrity in order to meet ministry guidelines
- Proactively recommends and communicates board procedures related to student data
- Performs business analysis and quality assurance testing of all applications and interfaces within the student information system product suite, as well as related parent tools for home notification and reporting of student attendance to maintain ministry compliance, support system operations, and implement new functionality
- Provide technical training and workshops to school-based staff to support alignment of functionality with business practices and data management
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Experience:
- College Diploma in Information Technology or a related field
- 3 years' experience in Information Communication Technology application support environment
Assets:
- Prefer 3 years' experience in a school/board familiar with school processes throughout a school year
- Prefer 3 years' experience supporting the Student Information System product suite
- Prefer 2 years' experience supporting the Ministry of Education OnSIS collections
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
- Excellent customer service skills
