About the role
MacKay Contracting is looking for a reliable and safety-focused Haul Truck Operator / Shuttle Bus Driver to support our civil and mining operations. This role is primarily responsible for operating haul trucks, while also supporting the team as a shuttle bus driver and spare operator as operational needs require.
This position is ideal for someone who is versatile, team-oriented, and comfortable stepping into different roles to keep projects moving safely and efficiently.
What You’ll Be Doing
Shuttle Bus Driver
- Safely transport employees to and from site or designated locations as required
- Ensure passengers follow safety requirements (seatbelts, PPE, site rules)
- Maintain cleanliness and complete daily inspections of the shuttle bus
Spare Operator Support

Act as a spare operator for other equipment when required, based on qualifications and site needs

Provide operational coverage during absences, shift changes, or peak activity periods

Support general site operations as directed by supervision
What You Bring to the Table

1–3+ years operating CAT rigid frame haul trucks
-
Valid Class 1 or Class 2 Driver’s License with clean Drivers Abstract

Willingness to work outdoors in all conditions and handle up to 23 kg (50 lbs)

A strong safety mindset — FLHAs aren’t just paperwork to you

Confidence driving in all weather, to and from site

A solid work ethic, positive attitude, and the ability to work solo or as part of a crew
-
Stable work history, ideally in an industrial or mining environment

Good communication skills and a willingness to take direction and keep learning
