The Role:
Reporting to the Manager, Human Resources (HR), the HR Generalist – Recruitment is responsible for managing the full-cycle recruitment process while supporting a broad range of HR functions. This role serves as a key point of contact for candidates, employees, and leaders, providing guidance on HR policies and procedures and contributing to the development of HR programs and initiatives.
The position plays a key role in attracting top talent by developing and implementing effective recruitment strategies, student engagement initiatives, and employer branding activities. This role partners with hiring managers to understand unique workforce needs, build talent pipelines and support a timely, positive and inclusive experience for candidates. Additionally, the role supports employee lifecycle activities, onboarding, and HR administration to deliver exceptional service and ensure an effective and engaging employee experience.
Key Accountabilities:
Recruitment & Talent Acquisition
- Manage full cycle recruitment across the organization, partnering with hiring managers to define needs, develop job descriptions, and deliver a positive candidate experience.
- Build proactive sourcing strategies and talent pipelines, including student engagement and post secondary partnerships.
- Act as an employer brand ambassador through career fairs, campus events, and outreach activities.
- Screen candidates, coordinate interviews, conduct reference checks, and prepare employment offers and agreements.
- Administer the Applicant Tracking System (ATS), employee referral program, and recruitment reporting and analytics.
- Develop and deliver recruitment and onboarding related training
Onboarding & Employee Lifecycle
- Coordinate onboarding and deliver new hire orientation to ensure a smooth employee transition.
- Manage employee lifecycle changes, including promotions, transfers, status changes, and offboarding.
- Maintain accurate employee records and ensure compliance with documentation requirements.
Additional HR Support
- Serve as a primary point of contact for HR inquiries, providing guidance on policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Build strong relationships across the organization and contribute to a collaborative HR team.
- Support HR programs and projects, including policy development, employee relations, abilities management, compensation, and other initiatives as needed.
Key Skills & Aptitudes
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources Management; or a business-related field is required
- 3-5 years of progressive HR experience is required
- A minimum of 3 years’ full-cycle recruitment experience is required
- Comprehensive knowledge of Alberta Employment Standards Code, Alberta Human Rights legislation and human resources principles and practices
- Have or working towards CPHR designation would be an asset
- High level of integrity with the ability to keep confidential information secure
- Ability to build strong relationships, coach/consult, and mediate conflict
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Highly motivated with the ability to work independently as well as member of the team
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task, prioritize, and deal with confidential information
- Strong analytical and organizational skills
- Attention to detail with the ability to identify problem areas proactively
- Proven organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects
- Desire to continually upgrade skills, knowledge, and abilities in the Human Resource profession
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Professional attitude in all interactions with employees, supervisors, managers, and directors
- Intermediate level skills with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Adobe.
Working Conditions
- Able to spend prolonged periods at a desk utilizing a computer and monitor and performing other close visual work as required (sitting, handling, touching, finger dexterity)
- This position is based at our Head Office located in Seton (Calgary SE) but requires the ability to travel to any EFW location and provide own transportation as required.
