About the role

Purpose:
The goSAFE Team Leader acts as a community ambassador to students, faculty, staff, and guests of York University. In addition to the duties completed by Student Safety Officials, the goSAFE Team Leader is also responsible for dispatching patrols, coaching and mentoring of staff, and some shift scheduling. Team Leaders also act as an effective liaison between unionized, security, and managerial staff. goSAFE Team Leaders are also responsible for the daily operations of the York University Lost and Found Office (Keele Campus).

Education:
High school education. Must be enrolled and registered as a full-time student in a degree program at York University. Applicants for Keele campus must possess a valid Ontario 'G', or 'G2' class license in good standing. applicants with the full 'G' license are primarily preferred.

Experience:
A minimum of 1 year of customer service experience and/or community-related volunteer service experience is preferred.

Skills:
Good customer service skills, leadership skills, ability to solve problems.
Excellent written & oral communications skills.
Ability to effectively liaise between & amongst unionized, security & managerial staff.
Ability to delegate duties, work both alone & with others, and exercise sound judgment.
Demonstrated professionalism, courtesy, tact, and diplomacy.
Strong work ethic, sense of responsibility & an ability to motivate staff.
Should have excellent attendance record with minimal infractions.
Availability for some day hours and daytime training (to be specified).
Strong knowledge of on-campus Emergency Phone, ADO, and Lighting locations.
Proficiency with software applications including Microsoft Word, Access, and Excel is an asset.
Basic French language skills are desirable for positions at the Glendon Campus.
