Hatchery Administrator

The Hatchery Administrator will work as part of the team to help maintain accurate record keeping and data management for the NL Hatchery. The Hatchery Administrator will be responsible for invoicing, delivery slips, and supporting the daily operations of the hatchery.
Schedule
The work schedule for this position is typically Monday to Friday, 40 hours a week. Varying hours, evening, weekend, and holiday work will be required depending on operational requirements.
Position Accountabilities
- Complete data entry of daily operation logs including chick sheets, hatch books, voucher books, tray papers, set reports, and wall sheets.
- Track and maintain accurate inventories for hatchery operations.
- Verify chick counts and prepare chick delivery forms, including for small orders.
- Verify egg vouchers and egg inventory daily.
- Prepare monthly reports for the hatchery operations as required.
- Support the Hatchery Manager and Hatchery Supervisor with daily administration, data entry, and reporting as required.
- Prepare invoices for finance.
- Manage interoffice mail for the hatchery.
- Provide administrative support to API operations as required.
- Assuring people entering the building are complying with biosecurity policies.
- Positively support customers to resolve concerns as necessary.
- Issue purchase orders and receiving items necessary to hatchery operation
- Support the Hatchery Supervisor and Manager with onboarding and training Hatchery Workers to ensure high quality chicks leave the hatchery.
- Participate in the Joint Workplace Occupational Health and Safety committee and support safety initiatives at the hatchery.
- Provide an environment free of animal cruelty, abuse and/or neglect for our poultry.
- Protect the organization’s value by keeping all protected and proprietary information confidential.
- Practice bio security protocol.
- Follow all safety processes and procedures.
- All other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
- Post secondary education in a Business Administration program is considered an asset.
- Minimum 1 year experience working in an administrative role.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple demands
- Strong attention to detail skills
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Pleasant, outgoing personality, with a friendly positive approach to customer service
- Highly skilled at Office 365 applications including Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint
- Proven skill to format and draft correspondence, forms, reports, and proposals
- Ability to manage time effectively.
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
The position operates indoors in an office environment, sitting for long periods of time. At times you may be required to go on the production floor where it is warm, humid, and dusty with strong odors.
