The Mital Lab is seeking an Assistant Research Technologist who will work independently as well as contribute to the joint activities of our dynamic team. The Mital Lab (http://lab.research.sickkids.ca/mital/) is involved in clinical research on congenital heart disease, cardiomyopathies and transplantation. The lab services the investigators various large-scale multi-centre research studies including the Heart Centre Biobank Registry, Transplant Biobank Registry and the Ted Rogers Cardiac Precision Medicine Program. This lab is seeking an individual trained in biological sample handling, sample registration, processing, QA/QC and auditing of a diverse range of biospecimen types for biobanking. Attention to detail, strong organization skills, and ability to synthesize and present updates is required.

Here's What You'll Get To Do
- Perform biobanking operations
- Perform sample processing and handling of blood and tissue (centrifuge, aliquot, store)
- Perform detailed data record-keeping using Laboratory Information Management Systems.
- Responsible for accuracy of data, using established SOPs and processes as well as updating operating procedures.
- Be an integral member of the wet lab contributing a complementary set of skills to the team.
- Work closely and attend weekly meetings with the PI and extended research team (technicians, bioinformaticians, statisticians and clinical researchers).
- Work collectively on study operations and independently on sub-projects
- Conduct literature searches.
Here's What You'll Need
- Post-secondary education in Science, social sciences or related discipline.
- At least 1 year lab experience is required.
- Experience with biobanking/wet lab sample handling
- Familiarity with molecular genetics and tissue studies preferred.
- Have an understanding of Good Clinical Laboratory Practice and the ability to work within this standard for receipt, processing, storage and shipping of samples.
- Demonstrated competency in written and verbal communication.
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, Internet and MEDLINE searches).
- Function independently yet collaboratively within a team.
- Effective interpersonal, facilitation and organizational skills.
- A commitment to understanding and aiding in the pursuit of equity, diversity & inclusion.
