Our Athabasca OSB Division is currently recruiting an8-month Automation & Controls Student. Our Controls & Automation students are key contributors at our mills. Our students'passion for technologyand appetite for new challenges gives a fresh approach to tackling improvements. As a student, you'll have the opportunity towork with seasoned professionalstobuild your skillsandgain meaningful automation and controls engineering work experience. We’re looking for anAutomation & Controls Studentto join our facility located inSlave Lake, Alberta. This state-of-the-art facility has the longest continuous press in North America, giving us the ability to produce a diverse range of innovative products for customers around the world.

Our ideal candidate has the following qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in anElectrical, Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering program.

  • Posses aClass 5-Graduated Driver’s Licenseprior to start date.

  • Excellentcommunication****skills. -Mechanical aptitudeand understanding of electrical machines.

  • Apassion for technology and programming. -Strong organizational and analytical skills. -Ability to work independentlyand use own resources to find innovative solutions to new problems.

In this role you will:

  • Work onimprovements to automation, controls and visualization.

  • Bedriven to find solutionsand look for ways to improve processes. -Recommend methods to improve safety, quality, throughput, and uptime -Provide support to electrical personnelon shift. -Support industrial programmingin a OSB mill. -Work closely with highly experienced Automation and Controls personnel.

Our Athabasca Division is located two and a half hours northwest of Edmonton, Alberta, close to the town of Slave Lake. Slave Lake is home to over 6,000 people.
