As the Business Strategist, you will work independently within a cross-divisional setting to support The City of Calgary's water, wastewater, and stormwater service lines. You will provide strategic expertise to engage leadership and participants in navigating complex and emerging issues, plan and manage priority projects, advance risk management and continuous improvement activities, and support planning and performance reporting, enabling the water utility to deliver on identified One Calgary priorities and provide the utility services Calgarians value. Primary duties include:
- Develop business processes necessary to deliver on strategic improvement projects identified through recent operational transformation.
- Support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of service governance frameworks within Water.
- Coordinate and facilitate process improvement and change leadership projects necessary to support various technology implementations.
- Build strategic working relationships with various participants across the business to support the coordination and alignment of initiatives.
- Provide innovative critical and systems thinking to identify solutions to operational challenges, while maintaining a focus on end-user engagement.
Qualifications
- A degree in Business, Science, Social Sciences, Environmental Planning, Public Administration, Marketing or Communications.
- At least 5 years of related experience in strategic planning, communications planning, policy and guideline development, or primary and secondary research in a Water Utility or a complex multi-divisional organization.
- Experience in project management, process improvement and change management in utility or other operational work environments is considered an asset.
- Previous experience with human centred design and design thinking is also considered an asset.
- Experience with Software Projects is also considered an asset.
- Well-developed consultation, analytical and strategic thinking skills are required.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work as part of a team and to build and maintain collaborative working relationships are required for this position.

Position Type: 2 Temporary (up to 18 months)
Location: 625 25 Avenue S.E.
Compensation: Pay Grade 12 $47.01- 62.84 per hour
Days of Work: This position works a 5 day
work week with one day off in a 3 week cycle.
Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week
Audience: Internal/External
