About the role
As the Shipper / Receiver, you will be responsible for efficiently managing the shipping processes within the plant. This role involves preparing outbound shipments and ensuring that records are accurately maintained in the process. To excel in this role, you will possess strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Location: 1403 Dundas Street, Woodstock, ON
Dedicated Day Shift: 6:00am – 2:30pm, Monday – Friday
Dedicated Afternoon Shift: 3:30pm - 2:00am, Monday - Thursday
Shift Premium: $3.00 per hour for afternoons
Job Duties
- Shipping orders: prepare and pack orders for shipment, create shipping labels and documentation, such as bills of lading and coordinate with carriers and schedule pickups
- Load, unload, move and pack products and materials by hand or with material handling equipment (forklift, walkies, pump cart, cranes)
- Ensures that all products are moved and stored in a safe manner.
- Assist in counting and organizing product when required.
- Professionally responds to calls / emails from external and internal customers.
- Follow written directions; interpret schedules and shipping documents
- Cooperatively works with cross-functional teams to continuously improve the work process by analyzing activities, identifying causes and suggesting appropriate solutions
Skills and Experience
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Adapt to a changing work environment demands and deal with frequent changes, delays or unexpected events
- Physical requirements include the use of strength such as pulling, pushing, lifting and/or moving objects during the work, as well as standing, climbing, kneeling, and bending.
- Potential exposure to weather changes (hot, cold, wind, rain, etc.) when working outside.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in shipping / receiving within a heavy manufacturing environment
- Experience operating a crane and forklift, or willingness to learn
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with a high level of attention to detail
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and oversee multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong computer skills and familiarity with inventory management systems
