Clinical Fellow - General Medicine
About the role
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.
The post will be for 12 months and the postholder base will be at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.
Applications are invited for the above post in General Medicine, based in the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital (QEUH), Glasgow.
Postholders will join the Medical Boarders Team who care for medical patients who are admitted in non-medical wards e.g., surgical. The postholder will be expected to undertake ward round reviews daily of patients with consultant support. This will include assessment of patients, formulating investigation and management plan for patients and communication with all members of the multi-disciplinary team, in each ward area. The post holder will be expected to take part in clinical governance meetings, QI/audit and educational meetings.
This post is not part of the national recruitment process for Specialty Training and is not recognised for training by NHS Education for Scotland. The post will provide an opportunity for ongoing development of skills and experience in General Internal Medicine.
Candidates would have appropriate experience in General Internal Medicine, Acute Medicine or other relevant specialties. Experience of working within the NHS is desirable.

Applicants who have not undertaken a UK foundation programme within 3.5 years of the advertised post start date, will be asked to submit a Certificate of Readiness to Enter Specialty Training (CREST). The CREST form must be completed by a consultant who has worked with you for a minimum continuous period of three months whole-time equivalent wholly within the 3.5 years prior to the advertised post start date for which you are applying.
