What can you expect from this position?

Reporting to the Associate Director, Terminal Planning, the Manager, Terminal Planning is the central coordination point for planning, oversight and compliance activities related to terminal operations. You will ensure seamless, safe and efficient passenger journeys by developing, maintaining and communicating Terminal Plans of Operations, contingency procedures and business continuity strategies. You will also lead ‑customer facing programs such as Passenger Navigation (wayfinding and signage) and Lost & Found and serve as a primary liaison with internal and external partners on construction, events, shutdowns and filming within the terminals.

As Manager, Terminal Planning, you will provide support across multiple areas:

  • Lead the Passenger Navigation Program and wayfinding standards; develop governance, specifications and a long-term signage strategy aligned to capital planning.
  • Redesign and manage the Lost & Found program, benchmark performance and implement cost neutral, customer centric improvements.
  • Develop and communicate Terminal Plans of Operations, including Irregular Operations (IRROPS) and Contingency Plans; define success metrics and performance indicators and capture lessons learned from peak period planning (e.g., March Break, Summer).
  • Act as the single point of contact for Terminal Operations on permits, events, shutdowns, filming and construction programs (e.g., LIFT); provide input/approvals and mitigation plans.
  • Develop Business Continuity and Construction Mitigation Plans to minimize passenger and employee impacts.
  • Audit Terminal Operations SOPs against Plans of Operations; collaborate with Training & Standards and frontline teams to drive continuous improvement.
  • Partner with ORAT, PMO, ICG and other stakeholders to plan and phase work; maintain strong relationships with government agencies, airlines and contractors.
  • Oversee the Non-Tenant Space Allocation Program and pursue utilization and efficiency improvements.
  • Build, coach and develop a small team; foster a collaborative, service driven culture aligned with GTAA’s vision.

This is the role for you, if you have:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in business or aviation management; airport operations experience preferred.
  • At least 3 years’ experience leading small teams; ability to coach, mentor and drive performance.
  • Strong knowledge of terminal/airport operations and relevant regulations; ability to anticipate operational impacts and plan contingencies.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and managing complex Plans of Operations and construction mitigation planning.
  • Proficiency with Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and database tools; strong data driven decision making and KPI management.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management, collaboration and influencing skills in a unionized, multi-partner environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to convey complex information with clarity and confidence.
  • Valid Ontario G class driver’s license; ability to obtain and maintain Transport Canada Transportation Security Clearance.
  • Six Sigma accreditation; knowledge of airline and partner agency operations (CBSA, US CBP, CATSA) considered an asset.
  • Post‑secondary diploma in Aviation Management, Business Management or related field (Bachelor’s degree preferred).
  • Ability to obtain and retain Transportation Security Clearance.
