The Role:
The position of Metal Fabricator works from patterns and blueprints, using a variety of tools and machines to make metal parts or assemble components.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operation of machinery involved in the fabrication of various types of machinery and structures. This may include plate shears, ironworkers, drilling and tapping equipment, plate burning equipment, plasma cutting, and handheld oxy-acetylene torches.
- Use of templates, temporary materials, gauging devices, and/or patterns to create materials joints
- Understanding, proficiency, and safe use of overhead cranes and rigging techniques.
- Understanding, proficiency, and safe usage of lift trucks up to 8000 lbs.
- Reading and understanding fabrication drawings and/or CAD drawings.
- May prepare equipment for painting; assist with assembly of equipment for shipping, testing of equipment, installation at customer sites and other duties required in daily production activities.
- Work in accordance with documented procedures and complete all applicable records
What You Bring:
- Fabrication Red Seal
- 3+ years of fabrication experience
- Proficient in fabrication techniques for the manufacture of custom machinery and projects
- Strong mechanical aptitude and installation knowledge
- Proficiency with all fabrication hand tools (drills, grinders, cutting tools, squares, levels, etc.)
- Read and understand blueprints and shop drawings to meet specifications and tolerances
- Knowledge of simple layouts
- Must have basic math skills and be able to accurately read a tape measure
- Demonstrate leadership potential and a desire to grow
