Role Summary

Primary responsibility is to provide oversight of the HSE program, implement company policies and ensure compliance to all applicable laws and regulations. Provide hands-on support, coaching and leadership in the development, implementation, continuous improvement, and management of Carlsberg HSE standards and work practices to provide a safe working environment. Ensure the foundational elements of the HSE program are consistently executed, maintained, and continuously improved. Drive the brewery's long-term HSE strategy by embedding a proactive safety culture & strengthening organizational capability.

Accountabilities

Ensure all Carlsberg HSE standards, method, tools, and processes are implemented in accordance with regional & global agreements. Support, drive, and deploy group HSE strategy at the country level. Perform HSE training and provide constant coaching to functional leaders and their teams. Responsible to ensure all required HSE training is completed and in compliance with all standards and policies related to HSE. Actively participates as part of regional and global HSE community. Monitor Canadian health, safety, and environmental laws and regulations, and ensure operations adhere to all relevant legal obligations. Responsible for all safety, health and environment management systems and activities at the site. Lead and coordinate projects by establishing clear deliverables, delegating responsibilities, monitoring progress, and holding project team members, stakeholders, and leaders accountable for meeting commitments, timelines, and project objectives. Drive accountability across all levels of the organization for adherence to HSE standards, procedures, safe work practices, and regulatory requirements, fostering a culture of ownership and operational discipline. Monitor, support, and promote adherence to the company’s environmental strategy, providing guidance to ensure alignment with sustainability objectives and environmental standards. Ensure HSE KPIs are implicitly understood and managed efficiently at an appropriate level. Responsible for HSE data reporting at the Country level. Setting and managing HSE department financial budget. Conduct field observations and manage the local plan of HSE audits. Maintain accurate, audit-ready HSE documentation, records, and permits while building sustainable governance, routines, and processes that support long-term HSE performance. Supports local Management teams with service providers and contractors to ensure their compliance with local systems. Driving Carlsberg excellence development in the area of responsibility. Establish and continuously improve core HSE processes, ensuring inspections, risk assessments, investigations, corrective actions, compliance activities, and management systems are executed effectively and on time. Review accidents and incidents and report as required. Investigate incidents and accidents using root cause analysis and develop corrective action plans to address underlying causes. Monitor workers compensation (WSIB), rehabilitation, and fitness-for-work activities in collaboration with HR. Support employee health, wellness, and psychological well-being through proactive initiatives, education, and workplace programs that enhance overall employee welfare and engagement.

Education & Qualifications

University degree or post-secondary education in Engineering, relevant Health Science, Industrial Management, Health & Safety, or Environment Management or necessary experience from relative position in food/beverage manufacturing industry. 5-7 years’ experience in HSE management in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Knowledge of HSE regulations, legislation, and technical operations. Designation as a Canadian Registered Safety Professional an asset. Proficient computer literacy (Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel). Energized by change management. Ability to effectively communicate to individuals at all levels of the organization utilizing various means including oral, written and strong interpersonal skills. Provides a sense of professionalism and purpose with proven problem-solving capacity. Considers details and big picture when solving problems. Proactively aligns self and team towards the agreed priorities. Actively promotes ''one - team'' spirit and collaboration. Sets clear and stretch HSE objectives and rigorously tracks their delivery.
