Description:
Reporting to the Coordinator – Taxation, Invoicing and Collection, the incumbent will be required to receive payments made to the City in settlement of various accounts and provide customer service for the various activities of the City of Pointe-Claire Taxation, Invoicing and Collection division. The incumbent will also analyze data appearing in the various rolls and carry out certain administrative tasks related to taxation and refunds, as applicable, for the various City of Pointe-Claire taxes.
Departmental mission:
To fairly and transparently manage all administrative processes and, in close cooperation with departments, to effectively and efficiently manage financial, human, and physical resources, with the aim of achieving the objectives set out in the strategic planning.
General responsibilities and goals:
The incumbent’s main responsibilities are as follows:
- Inform the public about municipal taxes, water tax, assessment and any other service provided by the Taxation, Invoicing and Collection division, ensuring the accuracy of responses using the tools available or taking the necessary steps with the departments and organizations involved, as applicable;
- Receive and validate taxpayer payments for various revenues;
- Verify, reconcile and control all certificates of assessment sent by the Direction de l’évaluation foncière of the Ville de Montréal, and process them in the taxation software to ensure the right tax rates are applied;
- Communicate with taxpayers and other stakeholders at the desk, by phone or by mail to get clarifications from them in order to provide them with various information regarding their accounts, in compliance with the laws and regulations governing these accounts or other taxes;
- Receive, analyze, process and follow up on requests, complaints, comments or suggestions from clients;
- Update the water meter information in the TFP system (taxation, invoicing and collection);
- Complete a daily cash receipts journal;
- Perform all other related tasks.
Job requirements:
The jobholder must have a college diploma (DEC) in an appropriate sector and one (1) year of experience in a job ensuring familiarity with the nature of the work or any other equivalent combination of schooling and experience as per the policy.
Abilities and Aptitudes:
- Bilingual (spoken and written English and French);
- Ability to be tactful, calm and courteous;
- Problem-solving and decision-making skills and good judgment;
- Organizational skills and attention to detail;
- Knowledge of the Windows environment and Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel and Outlook);
- Knowledge of the TFP software (taxation, invoicing and collection) will be considered as an asset.
Schedule:
17.5 hours per week - work schedule to be determined
