Position Overview

Reporting to the Director of Talent, the People & Payroll Administrator is responsible for assisting the corporate P&C and Payroll teams with key administrative tasks while ensuring that records are accurately maintained and updated.

This is a part-time (4 days per week) and temporary opportunity with an estimated timeline of three (3) months, with the possibility of an extension.

Responsibilities

  • People & Culture

    • Assist with recruitment by screening candidates, conducting preliminary phone interviews, performing background checks, and facilitating new hire onboarding paperwork.
    • Track and report on departmental data and key performance indicators.
    • Manage the organization, sorting, and filing of departmental records, including cleaning up and updating the current People & Culture e-filing system.
    • Contribute to the administration of various group benefits
    • Participate in social and community-focused initiatives and programs as needed.
  • Payroll

    • Process updates in the HRIS, including employment profiles, wage changes, and time-off entries, while maintaining confidentiality.
    • Perform manual timecard adjustments biweekly for payroll processing.
    • Address basic payroll inquiries from internal and external parties.
    • Assist with data collection for reports.
    • Support monthly remittance of RRSP and group benefits payments.
    • Additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education (either completed or in-progress) in Human Resources or Payroll.
  • Minimum 1-2 years’ experience in a Human Resources or related field (or a blend of experience and education) is preferred.
  • Proficient in using MS Office tools and other MS suite products.
  • Experience in Human Resources Information System (HRIS) is an asset.
  • Good organizational and time-management skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • The ability to think critically and problem-solve.
