Role Description The Optimization Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in Grande Prairie, AB. This position is responsible for supporting oil and gas well optimization, including operating and monitoring field equipment, collecting and validating test data, and assisting with performance analysis and reporting. Day-to-day tasks include conducting routine inspections, calibrating and troubleshooting instrumentation, ensuring accurate data acquisition, and following established procedures and safety standards. The Optimization Technician collaborates with engineers and other field personnel to implement optimization plans, document findings, and communicate operational issues or opportunities. The role requires consistent attention to detail, adherence to regulatory and company policies, and a commitment to safe, efficient field operations.

Qualifications

Strong technical aptitude in oil and gas field operations, with the ability to learn and apply well optimization principles and data acquisition methods. Proficiency in using field instrumentation, monitoring equipment, and basic diagnostic tools, including routine calibration and troubleshooting. Solid data collection and documentation skills, with attention to accuracy, organization, and timely reporting. Good communication and teamwork abilities, including working effectively with field crews, engineers, and supervisors. Commitment to safety practices and regulatory compliance, with familiarity with industry health, safety, and environmental standards. Ability to work on-site in varying weather and field conditions, including lifting, standing, and performing hands-on tasks throughout the shift. Relevant experience in oil and gas, production operations, or industrial field work is an asset. Diploma, certificate, or training in petroleum technology, industrial technology, or a related discipline is preferred. Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record, with willingness to travel to field locations as required.
