We are currently seeking Casual / On-Call Security Officers to support operations at the Calgary Police Service (CPS) Westwinds Headquarters and satellite locations. This respected, high-responsibility role is essential to the security and operational continuity of CPS facilities.

About the Role

As a Westwinds Headquarters Security Officer, you will be a frontline representative of Commissionaires supporting CPS operations. You will work closely with sworn and civilian staff to maintain safe, secure, and efficient facility environments in a 24/7 setting.

This position is ideal for individuals who are comfortable with technology, excel under pressure, and can be relied on to step in on short notice.

Because this is a casual/on-call role, flexibility and availability are key.

You are the first point of contact for many visitors and staff—and your professionalism sets the tone for the entire facility.

What You Bring

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid Alberta Security Licence
  • Class 5 driver’s licence with clean abstract
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office; ability to learn CPS systems)
  • Excellent communication skills and a calm, professional demeanor
  • Ability to work independently, make sound decisions, and manage priorities
  • Strong customer service orientation and confidence when dealing with the public
  • Reliability and willingness to accept short-notice shifts

Assets: Previous security experience, military background, customer service experience.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to conduct interior and exterior foot patrols in all weather
  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods while monitoring systems
  • Comfortable climbing stairs and navigating large facilities
  • Able to remain focused on screens and security equipment
  • Physically able to respond promptly to alarms or emergencies

Working Conditions

  • Casual / On-Call — shifts may be offered with short notice
  • 12-hour day or night shifts (06:00–18:00 / 18:00–06:00)
  • Professional environment supporting law enforcement operations
  • Fast-paced role with a mix of desk work, public interaction, and patrol duties
  • Position subject to CPS Enhanced Security Clearance
