We are seeking a Deputy Construction Manager to join our team, specializing in large-scale projects based in British Columbia, Canada . This role is ideal for professionals eager to work on impactful construction projects that enhance our communities while growing their careers in a dynamic and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Revise the Safety Plan developed during pre-construction as needed.
  • Monitor the construction contractor’s safety program and verify compliance with contractual obligations.
  • Conduct weekly Progress and Project Management Meetings and prepare detailed construction updates, including weekly and monthly summary reports for senior management.
  • Review contractor submittals, shop drawings, and other design documentation, providing required interpretation of specifications and design elements.
  • Coordinate activities and input from the client’s staff, regulatory agencies, and the Design Engineer Team.
  • Lead partnering/team-building sessions with the construction contractor to align on objectives and resolve issues proactively.
  • Maintain accurate project records, including daily photographs, inspection reports, and documentation of contractor performance and progress.
  • Oversee and document on-site inspections, Quality Assurance Monitoring, and testing activities.
  • Monitor compliance with permit conditions and coordinate environmental inspections, ensuring adherence to consultant recommendations.
  • Manage stakeholder engagement, including interfacing with regulatory agencies, affected utilities, and technical/maintenance staff.
  • Resolve construction-related challenges promptly and effectively, ensuring minimal project disruption.
  • Support commissioning activities and coordinate with internal teams to ensure a smooth transition to operations.
  • Participate in public consultations and communications as required to facilitate project transparency and community engagement.

Here's what you'll need

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience managing construction projects valued over $10M, with a preference for large watermain/pipeline infrastructure.
  • Proven expertise in construction safety planning, quality assurance, and contractor management.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, specifications, and regulatory requirements within British Columbia.
  • Effective communication and organizational skills, with experience coordinating large, multidisciplinary teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working on large-scale public infrastructure projects.
  • Familiarity with alternative project delivery methods.
  • Advanced knowledge of environmental and regulatory compliance standards.

The base salary range for this position is $86,800.00 to $129,115.00. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across British Columbia, Canada locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
