The Opportunity

The Hire and Buy Local Lead is responsible for the implementation of TC Energy’s Hire & Buy Local strategy across projects for British Columbia. This role ensures that those most impacted benefit most by advancing local and Indigenous employment, contracting, and procurement opportunities throughout the project lifecycle. The Hire and Buy Local Project Lead works closely with project teams, Supply Chain, and External Relations partners to embed commitments into procurement and delivery models, ensuring local benefit outcomes are measurable, transparent, and aligned with corporate objectives.

What you'll do

Implementation of the Hire & Buy Local strategy for projects in British Columbia Adapt HBL delivery to different project phases, including early development, construction, and operations Support continuous improvement of HBL approaches to reflect evolving project needs and lessons learned Embed requirements into supplier procurement processes Collaborate with Supply Chain and project teams to identify opportunities for local and Indigenous participation Support evaluation of contractor submissions related to Hire and Buy Local commitments Support engagement with Indigenous and local communities related to economic participation opportunities Collaborate with Indigenous Relations and Community Relations teams to ensure consistent messaging and expectations Assist with planning and delivery of engagement sessions, open houses, and advisory forums Track and report on local and Indigenous employment and contracting outcomes Monitor contractor compliance with HBL commitments and support issue resolution as required Provide regular updates to project leadership on performance, risks, and opportunities Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Business, Indigenous Studies, Economic Development, Supply Chain, or a related discipline 6+ years of experience in Indigenous relations, community economic development, procurement, infrastructure projects, or related fields A combination of education and experience may be considered Preferred Qualifications Experience working with Indigenous and local communities Strong understanding of contractor procurement and project delivery environments Experience working in British Columbia is considered an asset This position requires candidates to: Have and maintain a valid driver's license and provide a driver's abstract (record) for review To remain competitive, support our high-performance culture and allow for more flexibility in the way we work, we offer a hybrid work model and flexible dress code for our eligible office-based workforce in Canada, the U.S. and Mexico. #LI-Hybrid About our business We are a leader in North American energy infrastructure, spanning Canada, the U.S. and Mexico.
