ROLE SUMMARY
We are looking for a Crew Chief to work on Municipal, Land Development and Real Property Report (RPR) projects within the City of Calgary and surrounding areas. Reporting to the Sector Lead, you will direct the field crew to complete projects in an accurate, timely, and efficient manner to meet contractual obligations. You will also be involved in engineering, construction, or legal surveying in urban and/or rural areas.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
- Take direction from the Sector Lead / Project Manager to understand the following: project objectives, allocated budgets, goals, schedules, and timeframes.
- Communicate scope and schedule information to team members, set expectations, and ensure project tasks are completed on time.
- Lead field crew and prepare accurate notes, sketches and field data.
- Conduct conventional and GNSS field surveys of various types of surveys including engineering, construction, and legal projects
- Interpret Architectural and Engineering drawings for layout and as-built survey purposes.
- Work with laser scanners and drones on various construction and engineering projects.
- Participate in HSE and Quality Management reporting, inspections, investigations, audits, and reviews.
- Understand and document project scope changes requested by the client and communicate this to the Project Manager.
- Represent our client, Global Raymac, and yourself in a professional and courteous manner at all times.

EDUCATION, TECHNICAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Diploma/Degree in a post-secondary program related to surveying and geomatics or an equivalent experience.
- 5 to 10 years of previous experience in a similar role, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong and proven spatial recognition and problem-solving skills in a field environment.
- Experience of Trimble equipment and software, laser scanning, drones and line locating considered an asset.
- Basic computer operation for email, spreadsheets, and search functions.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills with the capacity to produce accurate and legible field notes. Reading ability is required, e.g., to follow written instructions.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license in accordance with Global Raymac’s Driver and Vehicle Safety Policy.
- Comprehensive working knowledge of legal plans and survey evidence.
The compensation package for this position will be commensurate with the level of responsibility of the position as well as the candidate’s qualifications.

Global Surveys was founded in 1986 and Raymac Surveys in 1978, with both companies firmly establishing themselves in the fabric of Alberta’s Land Surveying community. After serving the Energy and Municipal sectors across the province for more than 25 years, the companies joined forces in 2010 to form Global Raymac Surveys and we haven’t looked back since!
