We are currently hiring a Data Engineer to support our London Admin IT team.

The Data Engineer plays a critical role in the design, development, and maintenance of scalable and reliable data pipelines across both on-premises and Azure cloud environments. They are responsible for ensuring high data quality, performance, and scalability in support of business intelligence, analytics, and DataOps initiatives. Key responsibilities include supporting both real-time and batch data processing, integrating data from diverse sources, and contributing to the implementation of Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (or Deployment) CI/CD practices for data solutions. This position involves close collaboration with data architects, analysts, developers, and business stakeholders.

The Role:

  • Design, implement, and maintain data pipelines for extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) using T-SQL, Python, Microsoft SQL Server, and Azure technologies.
  • Build and optimize data workflows across hybrid environments using Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, and on-prem SQL Server.
  • Create and enhance enterprise data warehouses to support reporting, analytics, and decision-making processes.
  • Drive continuous improvement in data processing efficiency, reliability, and scalability.
  • Implement CI/CD pipelines to automate deployment of data pipelines, stored procedures, and configuration changes across development, test, and production environments.
  • Manage cloud-based data infrastructure using services such as Azure Data Factory, AWS Glue, or GCP Dataflow.
  • Ensure scalable and secure deployment of data assets using infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform or Bicep.
  • Ensure adherence to data governance policies, data quality standards, and proper documentation practices using tools such as Alation and Informatica.
  • Implement validation rules, exception handling, and automated tests to maintain data accuracy and completeness.
  • Collaborate with and support business analysts, architects, and stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver reliable, secure data solutions.
  • Mentor junior team members and contribute to a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Support cross-training initiatives and foster a collaborative team environment aligned with engineering excellence.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems or similar. Masters in Computer Science, or Data Engineering/Analytics preferred.
  • 7-10 years of experience in data engineering with a focus on the Microsoft data platform.
  • Strong expertise in SQL Server, T-SQL, Python, and Azure data services (ADF, Synapse, Data Lake). Familiarity with enterprise tools such as Power BI, SSIS, SSRS.
  • Proficient in data modeling (dimensional and relational), performance tuning, and ETL best practices.
  • Experience in designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for database and data workflow deployments (Azure DevOps or similar tools).
  • Experience with version control systems (Git) and infrastructure-as-code practices, agile methodologies and DevOps, and modernizing legacy data environments into cloud-native architectures.
