What you'll be doing
Reporting to the Director, Enterprise Data & Records, this role is accountable for providing business services and consultative support on the identification, retention and disposition of records and data. This role is accountable for providing business services and consultative support on the identification, retention and disposition of records and data. As part of the Enterprise Data and Records Management Office (EDRMO), proactively analyze, recommend and implement enhancements to the EDRMO’s governance framework and processes, clearly communicate rationale and negotiate solutions that will enhance operational effectiveness, support risk and control activities, and support enterprise-wide data and records management initiatives. Assigned projects are expected to be implemented in an effective manner through collaboration with a diverse team to create and building flexible, innovative solutions that deliver business value.
You will maintain the risk and control governance calendar, coordinate and prepare materials for executive forums and risk committees, and ensure clear ownership, charters, and decision logs for governance bodies while tracking actions to closure. You will support updates to policies and standards, aligning practices with enterprise risk frameworks. In risk and control monitoring, you will contribute to risk oversight, control testing, thematic reviews, and key risk indicator monitoring, aggregating, analyzing, and challenging results to identify trends, emerging risks, and concentration exposures. You will monitor risk appetite metrics and thresholds, escalate breaches, and ensure timely remediation. Additionally, you will design and deliver accurate management information data products and dashboards, standardize reporting, reconcile risk data from multiple sources, and document data processing. You will track and validate action closure, support root cause analysis, recommend control enhancements, and assess risk and control impacts of change initiatives. Finally, you will prepare materials and evidence for audits and regulatory reviews, coordinate responses and commitments, and ensure all obligations are documented and met on time.
At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role you’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.
How you'll succeed
- Advocacy: Proactively champion awareness and adoption of record-related concepts, requirements, and leading practices for managing data/records at each stage of the information lifecycle. This entails engaging with business partners and control groups to review application of records-related concepts.
- Innovative Thinking: support innovation for records and data solutions, leveraging analytic tooling and artificial intelligence, across the enterprise that enables compliance, while delivering improved value to business partners. This entails working with business, technology, and data partners to support change based on business need and risk.
- Consultation and Advice: Working with business and technology teams across CIBC, support the design and implementation of effective solutions that address business requirements, emerging technologies, and the applicable regulatory environment. Prepare and update reports based on research and analysis of specialized information to keep team members and business/technology partners informed of records-related trends, risks, and concerns. Gather, validate and document complex requirements for assigned projects.
- Operational Excellence: Support operational process enhancements to records services to increase efficiency and effectiveness. Liaise and work with impacted teams and individuals across the enterprise.
- Collaboration: work with a network of business SMEs and record/data roles who will collaborate on managing data and records across our bank. Liaise and work with record and data roles across the enterprise. As a governance group, EDRMO works very closely with Regions and LOB partners to help guide them on interpreting and implementing records management practices and solutions. Facilitate workshops and build trusted relationships with SMEs and records/data roles across Regions and LOBs to drive consistent adoption.

- You have a degree/diploma in CA, CMA, MBA, CIA, CISA, advanced Data or Information Management and/or in related field. Experience in financial services and information governance and industry designations is preferred, but not mandatory.
- You have experience supporting a data or information program. You are familiar with governance, talent, processes, and tooling to deliver on program objectives.
