Description Of Work NCSSM and the Science Department foster an environment of collaboration across departments and divisions and support community-engaged service and research.
The position reports to the Dean of Science and provides instruction for two sections of a course in Classical Genetics. General duties include developing and communicating to students clear course objectives and goals; planning and developing an instructional program that helps students assimilate specific course content and skills; holding tutorial sessions as outlined by the department; regularly monitoring and evaluating students’ progress, providing them with resources and feedback on their performance; structure and manage an environment conducive to learning; model for students responsibility to self and others; follow NCSSM’s philosophy, policies, and procedures. Attend Science Department and Biology faculty meetings as available; effectively collaborate with colleagues.
Knowledge Skills And Abilities/Management Preferences HIRING SALARY RANGE: Salary commensurate with education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities Experience teaching biology including background knowledge of genetics. Commitment to engaging gifted and motivated students in face-to-face classroom settings. Enthusiasm for student-centered, hands-on lab activities and familiarity with educational and laboratory technology. Interest in emphasizing quantitative approaches to science content.

Education And Experience Master’s degree in Biology, Science, or Science Education; demonstrated track record in Biology education; preparation for teaching a diverse student population as shown by training or experience; experience in the use of educational technology.

The secretary serves as the sole representative on the Governor's Cabinet for the state's law enforcement, correction and emergency response community.
The department focuses citizen and legislative attention on law enforcement and public safety issues, such as drinking and driving, underage access to alcohol and tobacco, the proper use of child safety seats, crime prevention, and preparation for natural disasters.
