Position Summary

Our company is looking for reliable Dispatchers, for our various yards in the GTA (Greater Toronto Area) as business needs require. In this role they will be responsible for delivering excellent customer service by filling orders in a safe and efficient manner and ensuring quality materials.

Key Responsibilities

  • Weighing trucks in and out of scale house with appropriate weights;

  • Shipping, receiving, storing, distributing and maintaining inventories of materials;

  • Processing purchasing transactions (tickets), scheduling deliveries and routes and other related activities;

  • Taking customer orders, responding to enquiries and emergencies; investigating complaints and updating accounts;

  • Inspecting incoming disposal loads, ensuring quality of product;

  • Meeting all shipping requirements as specified by the customer in order to ensure 100% on time delivery;

  • Monitoring traffic flow within yard, enforcing yard rules, maintaining communication with yard loaders;

  • Maintaining inventory and ensuring accuracy in both receiving materials and shipping finished product;

  • Reporting including daily tonnage reporting and month end reporting;

  • Ensuring and enforcing compliance to all company, client and legislated safety policies and procedures, including monitoring dust and environmental conditions in yard and maintaining scale house;

  • Providing accurate and timely completion of all departmental receiving and delivery reporting forms;

  • Any additional duties and responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma required;

  • Completion of college, or other business administration courses are an asset;

  • Clerical or sales experience may be required;

  • Knowledge of computers and relevant software applications: Microsoft Office, Internet;

  • Knowledge of customer service principles and practices;

  • Strong keyboard skill;

  • Strong mathematical ability.

Working Conditions

  • Operational hours: Monday to Friday - 6:30 am – 5:30 pm; Saturday 7:00 am – 12:30pm. These hours may vary depending on the needs of the business.

  • Insignificant physical effort. Requires a moderate amount of sitting for prolonged periods of time while using the computer. Requires moderate exposure to environmental conditions.
