Job Description:
Position Purpose summary:
The Christmas Support Worker provides support to the Community and Family Services during the Christmas season on a temporary basis.
Accountabilities:
- Responsible for organizing, initiating and responding to the fundraising Christmas letter appeal campaign initiative known as Hope for All Seasons.
- Assess and determine target areas and goals for the fundraising campaign in cooperation with the Corps Officers based on previous campaign results.
- Prepare and distribute Hope for All Seasons promotional materials and social media updates.
- Receive all onsite and mailed monetary donations; assist with the processing, documenting, depositing, and receipting monetary donations for the Christmas program in keeping with all relevant SA policies and procedures.
- As the main donor contact the incumbent is required to liaise with businesses, and other community partners (schools, Lions Club, Kiwanis etc.).
- Create and maintain a Christmas donations pick-up schedule of food and toys for the drivers, coordinating appropriate times with the donors.
- In the absence of the Corps Officers or designate act as a representative of TSA to arrange/receive toy donations.
- Assist with the coordination of pickup and delivery of toy and food donations for drivers, and maintain the pickup and delivery log.
- Collaborate with other staff to ensure that all data is up to date and recorded in a clear, organized, and accurate manner.
Perform other position related duties as required.
Working Conditions:
- This is a temporary full-time position based on 40 hrs. per week
- Contract to end January 9, 2026, with possible 1 week extension.
- Shifts may include days, afternoons, evenings, weekend shifts, and split shifts, Monday through Saturday. Applicable shifts include a ½ hour unpaid meal break.
- Flexibility in scheduling is required, as the hours may increase as per operational requirements.
- Required to wear appropriate Salvation Army identification.
- Ability to lift/move up to 20 lbs. in a safe manner.
- Local travel up to 15% is associated with this position re: bank deposits and meetings with donors offsite.

Education, Qualifications and Certifications:
- Completed High School.
Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements:
- A minimum of one (1) year of prior related experience working in community-based programs would be a definite asset.
- Strong skills in all Microsoft Office products and good working knowledge and experience with email and internet-based programs and social media platforms.
- Valid Ontario Class “G” Driver’s License, personal vehicle and insurance, is required.
Skills and Capabilities:
- Excellent interpersonal skills, integrity, and adaptability.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing in a professional manner.
- Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army’s health and safety policies and procedures.
- Honest, courteous, and punctual representing the organization in a positive and engaging manner.
- Treat the property of The Salvation Army with due care and caution.
- Ability and willingness to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion (i.e., The Salvation Army Abuse Registry) and provide an original copy of a Background Check screening.
- Ability and willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.
Compensation:
The target hiring range for this position is $18.99 to $23.73 with a maximum of $28.48.
Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
