About The Role The Clinical Dietitian - Diabetes Education Program IDA/CDE is a member of a multidisciplinary health care team and provides nutritional care and support to clients living with all types of diabetes in accordance with established policies, standards, and procedures. Utilizing and applying advanced knowledge and experience in relevant clinical techniques (through Insulin Dose Adjustment (IDA) competency and/or Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) qualifications) and in collaboration with the health care team, the Clinical Dietitian provides nutritional services through: nutritional assessment; care planning and charting; intervention, client goal setting and monitoring; counseling and education programs for patients/clients; orientation, guidance, and sharing of collegial information or demonstration of equipment or work processes to others including peers, new staff, and students in accordance with professional standards and program objectives. The Clinical Dietitian provides input on Regional, Provincial, and local diabetes services by participating in the development of nutritional practice guidelines and procedures and by participating in research and continuous quality improvement initiatives for the program.
